That is about the ceremonial/purification works the Jews used to be able to boast in.


Romans 2:23 You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?


The Jews had the ceremonial works to boast in, they boasted in those they circumcised too.


Galatians 6:13 Not even those who are circumcised keep the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your circumcision in the flesh.


Philippians 3:3 For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh--

Not of yourselves means we do not have to CLEAN OURSELVES, as in doing the purification works.

It does NOT mean: We are saved by faith without obeying.

We are saved by doing exactly what Jesus says to be saved, and then after we are saved, we can do good things for each other.
