What does "OTHER" mean?

I must admit, I have trouble with posters who use; OTHER as
part of their description. More times then not, if you ask them,
"What does other stand for, they either won't answer or they
get real defensive. I've asked them, "What church or denomination
have you/are you affiliated with?" I get the same avoidance tactic,
or some vague answer.

Why are posters so 'bothered' by answering a simple question? After
all, this is a 'religious discussion forum!' By not answering, it seems
as though they're trying to hide something? Such as; perhaps they're
a member of an unpopular or controversial movement or cult? Why
not have full disclosure on a religious forum? What would be the harm?

Someone once said; "Honesty is the best policy." So, why not just
be up front when asked such a harmless and simple question? Are
there any GOOD reasons for not answering such a question? Some
may say; "It's none of anyone's business!" However, if we're going
to have a serious discussion based on religious beliefs, why not KNOW
who you're dealing with, and why they believe, what they believe?

The same can be applied to most posters who use CHRISTIAN as part of their description. Why not just be up front when asked such harmless and simple questions about Jesus Christ?

Very few people responded and even less actually bothered answering the questions.

For instance, I'm a Non-denominational, Bible believing, Christ centered,
Mid acts Dispensationalist. And, a member of the Body of Christ. I believe
the sign gifts aren't for today (non-Pentecostal/Charismatic) I also believe
that we must look to Paul for the Grace message he received from the risen
Christ. That being, the fact that we're living in the Dispensation of Grace.

God's Grace received through our faith. Works/deeds will not gain eternal
life. One must first hear the Grace message, place their faith in Christ as
their Savior (realizing they are a sinner in need of a Savior) and be sealed/
indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and positioned into the Body of Christ. And, once
in the Body of Christ CANNOT lose that position!

are you mad?

"MAD"= Mid Acts Dispensationalist

No, I'm not. I'm not an Acts 2'er, an Acts 13'er or an Acts 28'er. I believe the one Body began with the saving of Saul. I'm more like an Acts 9er.

Grosnick,

What do you believe about Jesus Christ? Would you mind answering the YES or NO questions in the above link?

You obviously haven't got a clue what atheist actually means so you can do nothing but post stupid remarks supported by ....smilies?

He just got done saying that he does "believe in God. (I'm not an agnostic or an atheist.)"

Then you respond by calling him an atheist.

Someone hasn't got a clue, is it you or Damian?

Well, first, they don't have to answer to you. Or to anyone.

And second, it may well be that they are answering you, but you simply can't understand their answer. And that is NOT THEIR FAULT. It may not be yours, either, though.

We don't all understand the world, life, or "God" in the same way, or even by the same thought processes. So it stands to reason that some of us will not be able to cognate the thought processes and conclusions of some others of us. It doesn't make anyone wrong, or right, it just makes us different from each other.

And keep in mind that our idea of God is not God. It's just our idea of God. And that's as true for you as it is of anyone else, here.

So I'd say lets just enjoy our differences, and learn what we can from each other. No one's absolutely right, and no one's absolutely wrong. We're all "seeing through the glass, dimly", as the saying goes.

I get the point. After all, Jesus was very careful to avoid the company of sinners, pagans, and Samaritans. You can't be too careful, can you?

I don't think grilling others about the details of their faith is either simple or harmless.

It depends on motivation. However, it is my belief that everyone is other to everyone else. What matters is if we threat each other as "Thou" or as "it".
We shall find areas of contention as well as agreement.
It may be that it is in areas of contention that we have the most to learn?

We have more to fear from those who identify themselves as Christians yet whose words are vicious and destructive.

I'm not saying posters HAVE to answer to GM. I'm saying that,
it would make it easier for posters to know what religion, belief
system, cult, etc. they are speaking with? You took it wrong!
