That's quite right. The Septuagint translators, translating from Hebrew to Greek, translated nicham as metanoiein. Metanoiein means to change one's mind. Nicham is variously translated as repent, relent, change one's mind, regret, etc.

The point of my line of questioning is for you to grasp the difference between the word for 'repent' in the Bible and in English. If God never sinned, why does it say that God repented? The appropriate answer is because the word for 'repent' in the Bible simply means to have remorse for or to change one's mind. That being said, no one disagrees with the idea that all have to repent-we disagree with your definition of it.

God is the only One who does not have to repent for sins. Use your brain.

Why don't you look up the English dictionary and tell us what repent means. lol

I agree. That's my point. Also, it isn't that He doesn't have to repent of sins;it's that He doesn't sin.

Do you have common sense reasoning skills?

Isaiah 1:18 …17Learn to do good; Seek justice, Reprove the ruthless, Defend the orphan, Plead for the widow. 18"Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool. 19"If you consent and obey, You will eat the best of the land;…

I have no idea what you're getting at. I do, however, have no more patience for your nonsense.

Let's examine the argument here. I am told we do not have to repent of sins because God repented.

LOL...and this is reasonable to many here.

God is the only One who does not have to repent of sins, and this is why we do not have to repent of our sins, so you all say. EVEN though I gave many scriptures that say we have to repent of our sins.

Even though every dictionary in every language on earth says repent is about sins.

No one said you don't have to repent! No one! This is stupid! Get a grip!

All have to repent of sins if they want to be saved. Just believe what the Bible plainly says.
I do. I have said that. Again, no one said that we don't have to repent or obey. You came up with that in your own and now you're too stupid or arrogant to apologize and move on.

That being said, I'm going to try not to respond to you again in this thread.

You do. You keep telling people to look up English definitions.

I never said the Bible was originally written in English. No wonder you cannot make sense.
You cannot even follow a simple discussion without faltering from the truth.
Does not the English word repent mean repent of sins?

Please look up the word repent from an English dictionary and post it here.

Now are we like God who does not have sins to repent of? Do these scriptures say we have to repent, as in change our mind about God; or, do these scriptures say we have to repent of our sins?

Luke 17:3 So watch yourselves. “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them.

Luke 17:4 Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”

Revelation 9:21 20The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the works of their hands. They did not stop worshiping demons and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk. 21Furthermore, they did not repent of their murder, sorcery, sexual immorality, and theft.

1 Kings 8:47 and if they have a change of heart in the land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captors and say, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong, we have acted wickedly’;

2 Chronicles 6:37 and if they have a change of heart in the land wherethey are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity and say, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong and acted wickedly’;

Isaiah 59:20 “The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,” declares the Lord.

Jeremiah 8:6 I have listened attentively, but they do not say what is right. None of them repent of their wickedness, saying, “What have I done?” Each pursues their own course like a horse charging into battle.

Ezekiel 18:30 “Therefore, you Israelites, I will judge each of you according to your own ways, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall.

Revelation 16:10 The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in agony

Revelation 16:11 and cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done.

Revelation 2:5 Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

2 Corinthians 12:21 I am afraid that when I come again my God will humble me before you, and I will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual sin and debauchery in which they have indulged.

"God did not repent of sins so we do not have to."

"God did not repent of sins so He must not mean we have to repent of our sins."

No matter how many different ways I try to say it in my mind the way you all try to teach me, it just does not sound reasonable.
