I see you arenot basing your arguments on scripture?

Good point!

The Pentecostals who are doing what GM describes are not learning I Corinthians 14 and correcting their errors, which if the videos and stories are right, are plenty.

Andyc's post speak more on this

Most of us pentecostals/charismatics are just as grossed out by those guys as you are.

Theologically bankrupt an I think have in there philosophy/morality of ministry have lost the plot.

Maybe used of God once but now I struggle to find anything good to say about them

Are you a follower of Benny Hinn or Ken Copeland andyc?

The gift of eternal life/holy spirit/savation enables all who have received it to do all nine of the manifestations of the spirit. I Corinthians 12:7-11

The gift ministries of Ephesians 4:11 are also alive and well and functioning in the body, it is up to God's choosing who is responsible for those.

Yes, what they do is mock God's goodness in giving men that power.

They act like binge drinkers or something like that.

Drunkenness is not a good thing. Ephesians 5:18

Glad to see you guys aren't defending these guys outrageous behavior!

Why would we?

I Corinthians 14 is plain as day.

Their speaking in tongues is genuine.

All that foolishness is a mockery to God.

I Corinthians 14:1-40

It is like they have not read it at all.

However, it maybe, they were never taught it by a competent teacher.

They learned speaking in tongues like some people learn about sex, in back alleys by thrill seekers, not by those who love and serve God.

Loving and serving God according to His instructions, His word, scriptures is thrilling

Does he need to?

Charismatics are the ones hooting like animals, stumbling like drunks and writhing around on the floor like snakes. They're the ones claiming gold dust falling from empty air. They're the ones threatening critics with Holy Ghost death threats. They're the ones who cannot manage to record even one person speaking a true, identifiable human language they never studied. They're the ones who hide secret adulteries, alcoholism, divorces and homosexuality. They're the ones who've allowed it to be said that the Bible is just an "old wineskin."

What Scripture do YOU have to show any of that is of God?

Extremely well posted! Obviously, you have a lot of knowledge
about the, "Charismatic/Pentecostals.

Most of it is unscriptural so no justification can be found.

Some is untrue, there are noted instances where tongues have been in other human languages but its rare, and not my experience. For me tongues is a personal prayer language which is rarely inflicted on others.

As regards "weird manifestations" is suggest reading the book of acts with an open mind. At Pentecost people thought the disciples were drunk. People were struck down, shaken and spoke in tongues in many situations.

I do not believe such manifestations are Gods purpose, but a human reaction to the presence and power of the most High God.

I wouldn't offer that "excuse" to people like, Ken Copeland and his
ilk! Take a gander at these guys past 'shenanigans' on Youtube!
Benny Hinn is still supposedly knocking people off their feet and
onto the ground!

I'll take a quiet little community church that preaches the truth
of God's word, over an exciting, overly emotional Pentecostal
church, any old day of the week!

Copeland and Hinn aren't being defended here.

They are theologically and morally shot as far as am concerned and an embarrassment to charismatic/pentecostal movement.

We have "The Word of God and The Holy Spirit" we don't need, tongues,
people falling down making animal noises, people acting like drunks,
people standing up yelling in the middle of a service, TV preachers
selling us "miracle waters or cloths," and phony stories about people
being raised from the dead at revival meetings! Enough of that!

Are two mutually exclusive?

Spirit vs word is a false dichotomy. We need the spirit and the word.

Spiritual experiences outside the blueprint of scripture are dangerous.

Well you wrap tongues which Paul teaches he wishes' all people would speak in', with loads of stuff I have no time for.

I think you need to meet, listen to good charismatic and pentecostal preachers.

Back in the 70s a TV preacher sent me a latex glove and told me
to place the glove on and touch the part of my body that was ailing!
Then, he wanted me to place the "glove" into a "self-addressed
envelope along with a check for some amount as I recall?"

I didn't even contact this "Preacher!" Somehow, he got a hold of my
address! You'd all know him if I mentioned his name but, why bother?
