I am for traditions, including man-made. Provided it doesn't pervert the gospel. Paul said

16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.

And he was reminding them they are OSAS.

Don't confuse it with not holding onto what he said, and keeping the festivals of the circumcision.

Do you think, though, that the idea of Mardi Gras is a perverse way to start a festival of sacrifice?

Yep. I didn't know what the festival or Fat Tuesday was before a few years ago.

God loves a cheerful giver. Lent is about cheerful giving, not grudging giving or giving because you have to give.

The fish fry is a good change over from winter. The jet stream being well north of us now and making it warm not withstanding.

While in school at St Mary's, decades ago, I asked the "Priest" why don't we eat meat on Friday. Paraphrasing not a direct quote;

Some say Jesus didn't, but really it was Roman law.

That strikes me as highly believable.

Welcome to Palm Sunday.

Zechariah 9
9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.

John 12

12 The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out:

“Hosanna!
‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
The King of Israel!”

14 Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written:

15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion;
Behold, your King is coming,
Sitting on a donkey’s colt.”

16 His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him and that they had done these things to Him.

You can't actually have Bible study and be correct without dispensationalism as your guide.

6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”

Speaking of all things MAD, on the way to Jerusalem this happened;

31 Then He took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished. 32 For He will be delivered to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon. 33 They will scourge Him and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.”

34 But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know the things which were spoken.

They got that part right in Constantinople.
