It's funny (in a bad way) the ubiquity of people (even many Christians) who think that Jesus was a leftist and taught leftist ideas. You don't know what capitalism and socialism are. Socialism is slavery, capitalism is liberty. Now, this is how it works.
Capitalism is the system where the producer owns the means of production. For most people this is your paycheck. Socialism is when the producer does not own the means of production. If the government tells you that cannot buy a light bulb, that is socialism. They are dictating to you what to do with your production. You were fed a dump truck full of BS and bought it. Or, you are a socialist and a liar. Many people don't understand what capitalism really is either.
The Lord Jesus Christ was telling a parable. In it he used an example of this principal to make the point.
8 “So when evening had come, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, ‘Call the laborers and give them their wages, beginning with the last to the first.’ 9 And when those came who were hired about the eleventh hour, they each received a denarius. 10 But when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise received each a denarius. 11 And when they had received it, they [c]complained against the landowner, 12 saying, ‘These last men have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.’ 13 But he answered one of them and said, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? 14 Take what is yours and go your way. I wish to give to this last man the same as to you. 15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?’
I hope you appreciate the argument from authority on this one.
This cannot be emphasized too much.Capitalism - real capitalism - is about the voluntary exchange of goods and services by mutual consent and for mutual benefit.
So how to correct---out law lobbyists? Or make sure no legislator can act as a lobbyist for 10 years after leaving office? Get rid of Citizens United decision that allowed much more $ into politics. Make political campaigns limited to 6 weeks? This cannot be emphasized too much.
The free market is all about mutual exchange for mutual benefit!
It's really sad that so many people do not understand the interference by the government (at the behest of lobbyists etc) that corrupt this simple principle.
So how to correct---out law lobbyists? Or make sure no legislator can act as a lobbyist for 10 years after leaving office? Get rid of Citizens United decision that allowed much more $ into politics. Make political campaigns limited to 6 weeks?
Are you in favor of no govt regulation at all? No SEC, FCC, EPA? Just let the markets take care of everything??
What about the "interference" of government on behalf of the public? How would we get that to work?
The only reason that lobbying works in the first place is that lobbyists can get the government to make things difficult for their competitors, etc.So how to correct---out law lobbyists? Or make sure no legislator can act as a lobbyist for 10 years after leaving office? Get rid of Citizens United decision that allowed much more $ into politics. Make political campaigns limited to 6 weeks?
Yes, all of these groups make things more difficult and expensive. Those three letter departments are all coercive and corrupt. Are you in favor of no govt regulation at all? No SEC, FCC, EPA?
YES!! People are not so stupid as you think.Just let the markets take care of everything??
That's hilarious. Like what? What about the "interference" of government on behalf of the public?
Let's try it and find out!How would we get that to work?
so, how do you prevent, say fraud in the stock market? any law would have to be at least as detailed as current regulations, no?You get the government out of everything that it has no business being in.
The government's only responsibilities should be to protect the rights of humans (criminal code), and to provide and maintain infrastructure (code of use).
That's it.
Get rid of everything else the government does currently, and let people do what they want, so long as they aren't committing a crime.
It would require a fundamental change in form of government. The current system is based entirely too much on theft.

Actually, the simpler the law, the easier it is to enforce.so, how do you prevent, say fraud in the stock market? any law would have to be at least as detailed as current regulations, no?
The solution is simple: Make polluters pay to clean it up!How do you prevent people or business from polluting air and water in an attempt to make their business bottom line healthier?
So, no FCC. who gets to decide who gets certain frequencies to broadcast radio on?
No SEC, so wild west for stock offerings?
No EPA so anyone can dump whatever they want in water, no one needs to bother to clean emissions from smoke stakes?
Just trying to get a handle on what you would like the end result to be.
A self-governing society. That's the best! Yep I am sure that the country at its founding was self-governing. When did it stop being so moral and just and self-governing? Got a particular date in mind?
Why do you bother with such stupidity? Who is it that you're trying to convince with this drivel?A self-governing society. That's the best! Yep I am sure that the country at its founding was self-governing. When did it stop being so moral and just and self-governing? Got a particular date in mind?

When you ask an honest question we can continue.
Mercury from coal fired power plants is a pollutant that, for example, can make its way into the fish we eat.Dumping toxic waste would result in harming someone. They would then have a criminal case, and the government would get involved to bring justice.
Clete answered for me sufficiently for your quote of my post.
We stopped being moral and just and self-governing when we stopped enforcing punishments like the death penalty and public flogging for crimes.
See your post #30. You raised the drivelWhy do you bother with such stupidity? Who is it that you're trying to convince with this drivel?
When you ask an honest question we can continue.
Mercury from coal fired power plants is a pollutant that, for example, can make its way into the fish we eat.
Someone here just suggested simple laws are easier to enforce
Simple law—no mercury allowed to be admitted by coal fired power plants.
that work for you?
Judges will flog those guilty of assault and impose restitution for lost income and medical expenses (Ex. 21:18-19), and for permanent injury also require an eye for an eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, life for life (Lev. 24:19-20). Judges will carry out all corporal and capital punishments swiftly and painfully, within twenty-four hours of conviction; and limit floggings to forty blows (Deut. 25:1-3; Lev. 24:19-20; 19:16-21; 1 Pet. 2:20). |
The DNC, and their ally Speaker Johnson won't pass those laws.So how to correct---out law lobbyists?
To expound, liberty ends when people are hurt. Consent isn't the standard.Get rid of everything else the government does currently, and let people do what they want, so long as they aren't committing a crime.
