Let me know when there's a crime committed by President Donald J, Trump. Send me a PM
Was it Alan Dershowitz that said there were a whole lot of allegations but not crimes when it came to the Trump connections?

I think it just bothers folks that being a tweetin blowhard is not against the law.

He's been a pretty reliable Trump apologist. I can't imagine what he's thinking, although I've never found his judgement to be terribly good. It is fascinating though to watch so many conservatives fall in love with one of OJ Simpson's defense attorneys.

Isn't it though? File this under "Dershowitz was just doing his job".

Why wouldn't Papadopoulos consider this option? He was a volunteer and likely very zealous for a Trump win and /or a Hillary loss. At you meaning it's curious someone would even consider colluding with the Russians. Right wingers don't watch CNN. The thought of getting dirt on Hillary from Russian sources probably seemed perfectly fine. It takes an impeach Trump at all costs mindset to even think the action would be treasonous. Papa probably had no idea about the illegalities of the action much less that it was treasonous.

Volunteers are not experts in the law. Neither are they fully informed on campaign legalities..... campaign officials are. That's why his suggestion was rebuffed by campaign officials.
What about the Jr stuff?

"I’m going to take half of Chloe’s candy tonight & give it to some kid who sat at home. It’s never to early to teach her about socialism." Trump Jr. (aka, Orange Juniorous)

That ill considered Tweet brought out the funny, but author J.K. Rowling probably had the best response with:

"Fill her bucket with old candy left by her great-grandfather, then explain that she has more because she's smarter than all the other kids."

“She was given candy for free.

You inherited all your money.

You met with Russian spies.

It’s ‘too,'”

What an idiotic thing to say. There were plenty of homes that did not offer free candy, and none of them were considered criminals or harassed by police or military or fined or coerced in any way to participate. Many homes offered homemade treats instead of factory sweets. Some homes had full size candy bars, some had the smallest candies and only offered kids one each, and everything in between, and nobody was obeying the law better or worse than anybody else. People participated or not, and offered what they did or not, based purely on whether they wanted to or not, and no police forced them to do otherwise. Even the very rich, if they wanted to, could be super stingy on Halloween, and they can do that. There's no graduated Halloween compulsory candy contribution, so that the rich have to provide more than their fair share, that is then distributed to homes where they want to offer their guests a feast of sweets but can't afford to. And, we must always be vigilant and not assume that every piece of candy is necessarily untampered with, there is no government regulation of trick-or-treat at all, except for an unenforced specification for the trick-or-treat timeframe. If Halloween ever becomes more of a hassle than it's worth, we will gradually obsolesce it, without any change in our law, and in socialism we'd have to continue to "celebrate" it, UNLESS we changed the law. Halloween is pure free market capitalism.

Ugly:

President Trump dismissed criticism over the number of vacant posts within the State Department in an interview with Laura Ingraham, saying he's "the only one that matters."

"Let me tell you, the one that matters is me, I'm the only one that matters."
Because when it comes to it that's what the policy is going to be. We don't need all the people that they want. Don't forget, I'm a business person and I tell my people, 'Well, you don't need to fill slots, don't fill them.'"

This isn't normal, coming from the president of the United States. It is not normal. Wake up, Trumpers. Snap out of your trance, you who find this authoritarian wacko 'refreshingly brash.' You who voted for him 'just to see what happened.' He encourages the the worst in people instead of exemplifying the best.

'Death by a thousand cuts': Empty State Department offices sap morale, some staffers say

"There is a dearth of clear information — no sense of who is making decisions or how … no sense of dialogue or trust," the official said. "Even if the positions are filled in the coming years, it will require a long period of rebuilding relationships that diplomats count on" to do their jobs, the official said.

It may turn out to be good. Their budget is getting slashed anyway.

“All of those functions will still remain here at the State Department. That is not changing. A different person may handle it. In some instances, it may get combined with an existing bureau. That doesn’t mean that the priority goes away, and that doesn’t mean that the functions of that job or its duties will go away,” Nauert said.

She defended the reorganization underway, arguing that it was simply modernizing a department that was mired in tradition.

“We’ll figure out best practices and how we should change things to alter the State Department, to keep it in line with the 21st century,” she said.

Robert G. Berschinski, a deputy assistant secretary of State in the Obama administration, said it was “completely appropriate” for Tillerson to look for ways to streamline what many see as a bloated bureaucracy.

Diplomats rely on years of carefully maintained relationships with people in the countries where they're stationed. Understanding of cultural protocol, building of trust. A lot is accomplished through these connections that we're not privy to, and even though there's the expectation of turnover with new administrations, the diplomatic personnel leaving can pave the way for their successors - unless there is no successor.

The article below is pretty balanced between the paralysis of State (and why) and arguments for cutting bureaucratic bloat.
