What concerns me most is keeping the government out of our bedrooms and out of women's uteruses.
We are on the same team, then. :thumb:
That includes keeping government-funded serial killers out of our uteruses, too, right?
Well said! :thumb:
They're not "serial killers" and they're not government funded.
Doctors don't force women to have abortions.
I agree ... they are murderers for hire. Better?
And if the government is unwilling to provide the kind of subsidies to poor pregnant women which would have kept so many of them from having abortions in the first place,it should be willing to pay for them to have abortions.
So Horn, do you advocate that ALL men and women (regardless of monetary status) should be allowed to kill their unborn babies or just the poor women?
Seriously, IF the unborn are not worthy of life, then why do you keep making an issue out of the income of the woman aborting? Should a poor person get away with with murdering someone when they are in the process of robbing a bank? Based on your current argument, please feel free WHY you keep referring to "the poor women need abortion" argument.
What about the costs to society of bringing so many desperately poor children into the world? The vastly increased poverty, unemployment and crime? Are you anti-choicers willing to contribute all the tax money that making abortion illegal wuill cause?
Ha ... right on cue! :chuckle: You are so predictable. As for myself, I do not have a problem with families getting temporary assistance for prenatal care, birth and follow up expenses AFTER the baby is born.
To make it clear, the expectation is that it is *temporary* ... not permanent.
The numerous women who will die at the hands of back-alley abortionists,
Only the stupid ones ...
all the helpless children those women already have who will be left motherless? All the families and lives which will be destroyed by the stupidity of making abortion illegal?
How about putting the blame where it belongs. You know, on the woman who is STUPID enough to have a back alley abortion. Should we blame society for individuals who decide to allow their friend who is going through medical school of giving them a botched breast augmentation? Or how about the person who allows their friend give them a FREE perm and ends up with chemical burns on their scalp and fried hair?
What about the person who allows their friend to give them a tattoo and ends up with a massive infection? Does the person who is dumb enough to GIVE PERMISSION to have these services get to kill the person who is dumb enough to perform them?
Consent to sex is consent to pregnancy. Women (and men) have given their consent, however, the unborn baby in question has not given their consent to be slaughtered while they are still in the womb.
And here's another thing. If abortion becomes illegal again in America, how much tax money will it require to enforce the law?
Billions and billions of dollars, all of which will be wasted in the futile attempt to keep women from having abortions.
How many tax dollars will be required to enforce laws against murder, rape, child molestation, theft, vandalism, etc? Do individuals STILL commit those crimes or are you suggesting that because these crimes still occur they should not be illegal?
It's the poor women who will suffer the most, and their families.
No, you are wrong. The first and most important victim is the unborn baby. The second most important victim are the children who are growing up with parents who allow them to believe this is acceptable.
The U.S. government would have to turn America into a police state to enforce the law. It would have to keep women and girls under constant surveillance to make sure they would not have abortions if the were pregnant.
Having difficulty enforcing a law in not a good enough reason to discard it.
And all the while, women who could afford to fly abroad would have absolutely no difficulty getting safe, legal abortions.
What will we do? Have every young girl registered with the authorities once she reached puberty and have her under constant government surveillance in case she happened to get pregnant and might seek an abortion?
Hysterical much?
And require women who became pregnant to register with the law once they became pregnant and confined to house arrest in case she might seek an abortion?
And have her under constant surveillance at home in case she tried a self-induced abortion, or got some one else who was not a doctor to help her, such as a midwife?
Will women who have miscarriages be forced to report them to the authorities to make sure she did not actually have an abortion? And how will women prove they didn't?
What are we ? George orwell's 1984 with Big Brother watching us? And anti-choice conservatives have the nerve to demand "freedom" and "liberty" for America?
With freedom like this, who needs tyranny? We are not the former Soviet Union, with the secret police following us constantly.
Freedom has never included the right to intentionally kill our own children on the altar of convenience.
