You religious folks can call it sanctified if you like but the rest of us are capable of defining what our relationships are and mean without your help...

I'd be for this except for the undue legal burden it places on men in attaching children to the father. The legal mother is a cinch, but, absent a marriage license, the father would have to file special paperwork to legally attach the child.

I hadn't considered that side of it, but I can't say that is enough to make me change my mind.

Commitments are supposed to mean something. If we say this one does not what does that mean for all others? This should be the most sacred of all commitments to us as people. So if it is not then how can any other be sacred?
