It's a hard thing when a movement runs out of ideas.

I think the GOP just needs a young, driven candidate. Young presidents have proven to be mighty effective in the past. Look at Kennedy for example., he was the youngest President ever to be in office.
They also have a natural tendency to reach out to the next generation. Obama and Mrs. Obama do the same. For some reason or another, this just isn't a big thing among Republicans. There is always some old guy in the office, and suffice it to say, Bush was clearly not thinking of future generations.
New idea. There you go :thumb:

[nitpick]The youngest to ever be elected. T.R. was the youngest ever in office.[/nitpick]

But that also supports your argument. The question is, "who have the republicans got who has new ideas and an ideology that won't turn off the moderate independents he needs to win?"

I won't pretend that America doesn't have an uncertain future precisely because of this. The Democrats don't have much to work with either. During the 2008 election, many college students across the board were encouraging others to not vote period. Speaks volumes about the moderates out there. An independent will probably have to take the lead for once, and both Republicans and Democrats will just have to pray that they are more inclined to them and less to the other.

The bottom line is that Republicans need to find a candidate that is passionate and driven. These old guys need to be put to the side. No more Bushes and McCains. The reason why Obama was voted into office is because McCain and Bush are virtually the same. It's time to step it up, that gambit is obviously not working.

How can there be passion on the Republican side, when the ideas they have are all so obviously bankrupt? What is there to be passionate about? Noone, not even Ronald Reagan, could pull it off anymore. It doesn't matter how old their candidates are; they will all lose from now on. Republicans' time is passing.

Screw the moderates. It's catering to them that has watered down the Republican Party to the point that it's almost as liberal as the Democrap Party.

Reagan ran as a Conservative and blew the demo-commies out of the water. That's the kind of candidate the R's need if they wanna win.

Today's Republican would gladly vote for Hillary as long as she had an "R" in front of her name. :nono:

One of the downsides of letting everyone vote is, they might not vote the way you like. The answer isn't ideological purity tests, it's doing a better job of selling your POV.

Without that, you're lost.

Well, she is more conservative than Romney.

Romney is very conservative, if he's anything. The only trouble is, it's only for the audience he's talking to. He really has little or any convictions on issues, except that he himself is a really smart guy and people should elect him. But it's not that he's too liberal for Republicans; he's not, at least in his current rhetoric. Conservatives don't trust him because he might change depending on the circumstances.
