Of course, none of this is true and there is really no need to be afraid of global warming at all, much less work yourself up to the point where you need to see a therapist about the issue. ... Let’s assume man-made CO2 is increasing the temperature and that for reasons unknown, the world refuses to build the plants that will suck CO2 right out of the air. So, then what? Does the world end in a fiery catastrophe? Not at all. In fact, life wouldn’t change one bit because of global warming for most people. That’s not to say that there wouldn’t be any impact. Some low-lying areas would be flooded. There are estimates that it could cost the United States 10% of its economic output by 2100, which is pretty insignificant when you consider how much the economy should grow between now and 2100. Some areas will become hotter, drier, and less usable as farmland. Other colder areas will benefit from being warmer. Water may be scarcer in some areas and more accessible in others. Put another way, it wouldn’t be the end of the world, it would just mean there would be changes, some good and probably a few more bad. Some people may think it’s worth it politically to scare kids to death over global warming, and responsible adults need to stop trying to frighten them with propaganda and doomsday prophecies. |

The numbers are inaccurate because they have only recently been counting hurricanes that did not make landfall.
If you look at the data from NOAA for hurricanes that made landfall, you will find a different story.
Category 5 hurricanes made landfall in 1935, 1969, 1992, and 2018.

And there is no doubt that as deserts eat into currently habitable places in Africa and the Middle East, Europe will face an unimaginable refugee crisis. Something needs to be done about that. So how’s this for an idea. Get back to school as quickly as possible and work hard in your science lectures. Because science is what will solve the problem eventually. The case of Thunberg is even more egregious. She began suffering from depression as a child, by her own admission, in part because she learned about climate change at age 8. She was later diagnosed with autism and obsessive compulsive disorder and gradually became despondent as she obsessed over her fear of climate change. She developed mutism and an eating disorder so severe that she once went two months without food, and she stopped going to school. Her only sibling, a sister named Beata, also suffers from Asperger's and OCD, as well as ADHD. Now tell me, does it seem healthy to place a child with this many mental illnesses under the spotlight of public scrutiny, with a sole focus on the very phenomenon and associated alarmism that triggered her in the first place? If you're a fading opera starlet married into a family of fame, and your only two children are having exceptional trouble even attending school, then I suppose you can secure a bit more fame by milking your child's clinically diagnosed obsession. But given that Greta's mental struggles and triggers actually led her to the brink of death, the whole thing smacks of child abuse. |

The Voxers are correct though in observing that “Thunberg’s fearless rhetoric has proven to be enormously influential.” And therein is the problem. The story says Thunberg arrived at her activism on her own, first hearing about global warming at 8, then becoming depressed at 11, ostensibly because the world wasn’t responding to global warming adequately enough to suit her. But she’s no priestess ordained by the Almighty, just a vessel used to repeat global warming propaganda. She’s a human shield held up to protect the disseminators of junk science, radicals determined to take over the global economy, and an assortment of angry agitators. It’s unlikely to happen, but every adult who has placed Thunberg on a pedestal should be embarrassed for taking seriously what is so plainly a stunt, for so obviously trying to signal their moral superiority over the unbelieving rubes, for flattering themselves as sages who recognize greatness. They should be ashamed for hitching themselves to the operators who are cashing in on the girl. They should be held to account for failing, or refusing, to recognize they are giving life to a cult, one that a mentally healthy society would have already turned back. |

Two category 4 hurricanes struck the US in 2017, and one category 5 struck the US in 2018. That level of severe hurricane activity is unprecedented.

In the 1940s there were 4 level 4 hurricanes, 4 level 3 hurricanes, 8 level 2 hurricanes, and 7 level 1 hurricanes that made landfall.
In the 2000s there were 1 level 4 hurricanes, 6 level 3 hurricanes, 4 level 2 hurricanes, and 8 level 1 hurricanes that made landfall.
There is nothing unprecedented about the hurricane activity.
We are now able to identify and accurately measure more hurricanes that we were able to in the past, and even with our greater detection ability we are seeing fewer hurricanes.
Only recently? For how long have "they" been counting hurricanes that did not make landfall?
