I don't know what to think! He knows how to manage money.
He hasn't managed his personal life very well. It appears he is a good father.
He has a certain amount of machismo and chutzpah but can he be taken seriously?
I mean, his hair, what is it attempting to hide?

Donald Trump as a presidential candidate, thoughts?

Does :rotfl: qualify as a thought?

Probably not. :plain:

But if I give it no serious consideration at all I'd likely match "The Donald"...

Trum has had many ventures fail. He has filed for bankruptcy several times. He runied the United Stats Football League back int he 1980's with his idiotic push to a fall schedule to compete directly with the National Football League.

In terms of his suitability to run a country let look at Trump's record:

He had built a 1 million dollar casino called the Taj Mahal with high interest junk bonds. By 1991 the debt for his unwise investments drove him to bankruptcy.

November 2nd 1992 the Trump Plaza Hotel filed a prepacked chapter 11 bankruptcy.

In 1994 Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts were 3 billion in debt.

In January 2002, the Securities and Exchange Commission brought a financial-reporting case against Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts Inc. The matter was settled.

On February 17, 2009 Trump Entertainment Resorts filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

His politics:

Trump is going to be running as a third party candidate--Reform party as a business conservative and a social moderate.

Prolife
Against Same sex marriage
Anti Gun Control
Advocates for the repeal and replacement of Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
Anti-foreign aid
Supports a fair trad policy and believe China should be treated more as an adversary.
Believes the U.S. should disengage in Iraq and Afghanistan.

My big issue with Trump is his financial failures. He would need people to guide him on managing budget. He didn't a very good job with his own budget. His platform is a lot better that what I have seen in recent years. Whether I vote for him or not depends on what other choices there are out there.

Qualified for Presidency or not - I'd vote for him JUST to hear him say "You're Fired!" to Obama.
HA!

Trump called the other GOPers “a field of automotrons who all act in a way that is not benefiting this country during these economically troubled times.”

Trump has, in the past, hinted at presidential bids, only to pull back after basking in the public interest.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0411/53344.html

Donald Trump:
1999: “I believe it is a personal decision that should be left to the women and their doctors,”
2011: “One thing about me, I’m a very honorable guy. I’m pro-life, but I changed my view a number of years ago.”

Trump's respectable showings in largely meaningless early polls reflect little more than his widespread notoriety.

FWIW, Trump has actually said that if runs it will be in the Republican primaries, not as an independent or 3rd party candidate.

OK ...... So "The Donald" has financial issues and bankruptcies. How come he is floating in moola now? Maybe he got advice from obama > print it up as needed?

he added that
if
he were a third party candidate, that would reelect Obama
and
he doesn't want to do that

many here do not understand that

Regarding understanding: Trump has said that if he doesn't get the GOP bid he'll probably run as an independent.

"The concern is if I don’t win [the GOP primary] will I run as an independent, and I think the answer is probably yes.” Mr. Trump said he thought he “could possibly win as an independent,” adding, “I’m not doing it for any other reason. I like winning.” source: WSJ - Trump Will ‘Probably’ Run as Independent If He Doesn’t Win GOP Nomination

No chance whatsoever that I'd vote for him.

That doesn't mean anything. Right now Trump is the "new toy" the media has found. When it actually comes time to cast vote most GOP voters will not vote for Trump.

You're probably right there. If Haley Barbour were to run he'd actually do pretty good I'd bet. I don't usually trust polls but I assume that they polled registered Republicans only with the polls stating this. I just think that it is both odd, sad and little interesting that a guy who has (so far) a platform based mostly on the birther conspiracy is actually getting so much early support.
