The Wrath of God

Trying to be like Jesus is like trying to jump across the Grand Canyon.

When you try to be like Jesus you put yourself in spiritual bondage to the law. No one can ever be like Jesus, he was without sin, you are full of sin, you just can't admit it because of your hypocrisy.

The Pharisees also thought that they were without sin. Read the 23rd chapter of Matthew to see what Jesus thought of their righteousness.

You both, clefty and GT continue to do in your flesh what God has ALREADY done in Jesus Christ. Jesus has ALREADY reconciled you to God, 2 Corinthians 5:18, 19. But you continue to try and do yourself what God has ALREADY done in Jesus Christ. Neither one of you have entered into his rest, Hebrews 4:10.

You are in major error.

Notice I give you scripture, even from Paul, the one you claim you only have to go by...notice that you will not look at what he says and agree?

1 Corinthians 7:19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God’s commands is what counts.

That scripture rebukes you. I think you know it does but your head and heart are too hard and stubborn.

Let's hear you speak of that scripture.

Here Robert Pate, this will really torture you, unless you humble yourself:

Ephesians 4:23to be renewed in the spirit of your minds; 24and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.25Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are members of one another.

Romans 7:6 But now, having died to what bound us, we have been released from the Law, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.

Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

Romans 13:14 Instead, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the desires of the flesh.

Romans 8:29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

2 Corinthians 3:18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Colossians 3:10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

Robert Pate,

Do you really want me to list all of the commands that Paul taught?

Paul preached to the saved as well as to the unsaved. The unsaved are the ones that need the law or the commandments. The saved do not need laws or commandments because they are led by the Holy Spirit and are perfect and complete "In Christ".

Led into keeping the law...as James implied confirming the gentiles would hear Moses every Sabbath and fall more and more in Love with the Savior...and more and more desirous to follow Him...

But first four immediate requirements...none of them thought just believe and faith was enough...

Be more like Him except deny He is Lord of the Sabbath and no need to keep all 10 as He did...

and go ahead reject the purity laws on sex and diet ceremonies and sacrifices...He just did that for kicks and giggles...not for you to follow...

So actually become a little more like Him but not too much...lol

You are a bitter root just as Jesus says.

No you have to obey all of it, even the part about not doing the purification works and falling from grace.

Where is that in the 10?

Falling from grace is doing the work in order to be saved, it replaces Him His work in saving us...

It was always by faith salvation came...israel had faith first then put the blood on the door to be saved...it was saved even prior knowing the Law...imagine that

We do the work because He saved us...we clean the temple not to earn it or save it but because it is already ours...already saved

Bought with a price...extreme gratitude tends for people to do more to please the giver as a way of showing thanks and appreciation to take care of what s given so as not to lose it...not less...but yes some people seek only the minimum “required” a wish to do less...

That you keep or don’t keep...

You are a bitter root just as Jesus says.
Does He? Or does Paul?...

And about that:

Therefore a “root of bitterness” is a person or a doctrine in the church which encourages people to act presumptuously and treats salvation as an automatic thing that does not require a life of vigilance in the fight of faith and the pursuit of holiness.

I don't believe that either one of you are of the faith.

All that you talk about is your righteousness, which Isaiah said is filth rags and Paul said falls short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23.

Have either one of you ever called upon Jesus to save you? Romans 10:13.

You were taught to misunderstand the filthy rag scripture.

How do you EVER get that obeying God is as a filthy rag?!

The Jews who had to do a righteous act of giving a sin offering, which included offering BLOOD, God did not like it that they would sin then give a sin offering and not really be sorry for their sins; that made the blood offering as a menstrual bloody rag offering. Not being truly sorry for the sin is what made the righteous act of sacrificing animals for their blood as a filthy rag.

Isaiah 64:6 All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

Our righteous act of FAITH in Jesus is a filthy rag if we do not OBEY HIM.

Have either one of you ever called upon Jesus to save you? Romans 10:13.

Now you are getting it...you admit we have to believe, and now you are finally saying something else we have to do, and that would be calling on him.

Good for you. Now believe it and obey.

Did you tear out all of the letters from Paul to come up with your homemade Bible rendition?

God says don't judge a chosen of His, but you do judge Paul.

One of David's wives could not bear children because she judged David, see 2 Samuel 6:20, and 2 Samuel 6:23.

In addition, see what happened to Moses sister Miriam when she judged Moses. God gave her leprosy. SeeNumbers 12:1-9, 15.

Looks like you are obeying less and less than what you claim.

Judge Paul and disobey 'do not judge a chosen of God's'; take out Paul's teachings and take out another 200, 300 commands?

Not sure what you are going on about now...

You said Jesus spoke of bitter roots when actually it is Paul...so I wished to correct your sloppiness...

And bring to mind that a bitter root wishes to do less not more for Him...to minimize what He did for them...not fully appreciated and wishing to show gratitude for all which was done but go it alone...

In sum a bitter root produces bitter fruit...bitter quarrelsome lazy stubborn fruit...fruit just not quite right...lol

Our acts in order to achieve righteousness are like menstrual rags...not just filthy rags...

Blood issued involuntarily due to biological function is not what is demanded...but voluntary blood by choice and understanding the Law demanded it...only His innocent blood shed for all would suffice...to make those who believe until the end righteous...

all that blood shed in the OT did not remove any sin either...as you can tell by how israel sinned...

Christians don't have a righteousness that God will accept. Their righteousness is in heaven at the right hand of God. Your righteousness will disappear in a puff of smoke in the judgment.

That's not right, if Christ by the Spirit is within our hearts then we will be made righteous by his life within helping us to cleanse our hearts, and we will be made righteous though him in this lifetime. You can't say that we can't be made righteous, if the Spirit of Christ is with us then we can be justified through him and by his blood flowing through us cleansing us from our sins and the works of the flesh. Bringing into our hearts the fruits of the Spirit thus making us righteous before the living God.

Hebrews 9

How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Matthew 5

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

And here in Matthew 5

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness:
for they shall be filled.

Matthew 6

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

1 Timothy 6

But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

2 Corinthians 5

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Titus 2

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world

James 3

And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

Hebrews 12

Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

2 Corinthians 9

Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness.

Romans 6

Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

1 Peter 3

For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
