The church in Philadelphia has been given this promise:
"Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth" (Rev.3:10).
This is a promise that this church would not enter the future "hour of trial," a time of trouble which begins in the sixth chapter of Revelation:
"And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth" (Rev.6:8).
Those in the church will be kept from this tribulation and the horrors which will follow when they are caught up to meet the Lord Jesus in the air:
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord" (1 Thess.4:16-17).
Those in the church will not be on the earth at the time of this great tribulation. So the "catching up" of the saints (the rapture) will happen before great tribulation envelops the whole earth.
A pre-Trib Rapture!
