Yes and He works through the apostles' successors.
Anyone who is born of God can understand the Scriptures:
"But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God" (1 Cor.1:23-24).
Those who haven't been born of God are incapable of know the things which are freely given to true believers:
"Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God" (1 Cor.2:12).
Those lacking the spirit of God deny that a believer is
"justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus" (Ro.3:24).
These same people deny that eternal life is a "gift" that comes upon all believers:
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Ro.6:23).
False religions teach that people must do "works" of one kind or another in order to receive to things which are described as being "free" and a "gift."
