Paul didn't come up with the gospel all on his own. He is talking about the gospel of God and Jesus. I call it my gospel too, and it doesn't mean one never heard before.

The mystery is Jesus coming to die for us to take away the sins of the world, Jews and Gentiles, and that the whole Old Testament was about him.
