When Moses was forbidden to cross over Jordan with the tribes of Israel, this was a prophecy about Christ. It shows us that how Moses, whom God gave the old law, could not himself cross over. The crossing over of the river Jordan into the land of Canaan was about salvation, not by the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. Through the water. The water is about the Holy Spirit.

Moses says, "I am one hundred and twenty years old today. I can no longer go out and come in. Also the Lord has said to me, `You shall not cross over this Jordan.' "The Lord your God Himself crosses over before you; He will destroy these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess them. Joshua himself crosses over before you, just as the Lord has said. "And the Lord will do to them as He did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites and their land, when He destroyed them.”The Lord will give them over to you, that you may do to them according to every commandment which I have commanded you. "Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.'' Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, "Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it.”And the Lord, He is the one who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.'' Deuteronomy 31:1-8

The crossing of the Jordan which is a prophecy of salvation, Canaan is a prophecy too, of sanctification. The tribes of Israel were to go through the land, not coveting the things which God declared to be dedicated to destruction, but in obedience destroying those things which would be temptations to sin.

Luke 24:7 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.

John 1:45
Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote--Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."

John 5:39
You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,

Which scriptures is Jesus speaking about? Jesus is speaking about the Old Testament, for the New Testament had not yet been written.

Throughout the Old Testament, we see the warning from God about not being led astray by the way of unbelievers, those who are disobedient

We are warned too by Jesus, we are warned throughout the New Testament.

"Therefore take diligent heed to yourselves, that you love the Lord your God. "Or else, if indeed you do go back, and cling to the remnant of these nations these that remain among you and make marriages with them, and go in to them and they to you, "know for certain that the Lord your God will no longer drive out these nations from before you. But they shall be snares and traps to you, and scourges on your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land which the Lord your God has given you. "Behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth. And you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spoke concerning you. All have come to pass for you, and not one word of them has failed. "Therefore it shall come to pass, that as all the good things have come upon you which the Lord your God promised you, so the Lord will bring upon you all harmful things, until He has destroyed you from this good land which the Lord your God has given you. Joshua 23:11-15.

We are told how to remain in Jesus, John 6:56, and if we do Jesus will remain in us, John 15:4. Jesus tells us of the good if we remain in him, John 15:5, and of the bad when we do not, John 15:6. Jesus exhorts us to remain in him, John 15:9, 10, Acts 14:22, and 1 John 2:24.

1 Peter 5:8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Caino,

I would like to write more about how the whole Old Testament is about Jesus.

I hope that you will begin to see that the Bible is true, even about the sacrifices of animals.

Dont forget, our thread here is about the Urantia Papers. We've already addressed the primitive and obsolete concept of blood atonement....many times here. It is erroneous.

You are parroting how your false gospel centuries later changed the truth

Said one macaw to another.

You are merely parroting traditional christian revisioning and reading Jesus back into old testament scriptures applying messianic passages to him. No orthodox Jew accepts such.

If you were to educate yourself even a little about whom you are debating, you would know that there is nothing traditional about what I speak.

You are also speaking nonsense for thinking I go by things the orthodox Jews believe in...those who reject Jesus.

Good point, it was because the first followers of Jesus were Jewish there was a temptation justify their faith in Jesus as well as his authority, by forcing Jesus into many aspects of the Old Testament scriptures.

I don't believe in the Satan God, he was a fallen celestial who mislead the world for a time but was defeated and is gone.

;) I refer to the traditional-orthodox evangelical christian blood-atonement theory, with its quirks. We've already exposed that belief as just a 'belief', outdated and primitive. All can return to God/truth via 'repentance'.....a bloody sacrifice is not necessary.

You are also speaking nonsense for thinking I go by things the orthodox Jews believe in...those who reject Jesus.

I'm merely showing the solid case Orthodox Jews have in rejecting Jesus as their Messiah since he didnt satisfy their messianic requirements or expectations. You hold to the traditional-orthodox christian 'assumption' of Jesus as messiah, the 'christianized' version.

The UB perspective:

Was Jesus the Jewish Messiah?

Good point, it was because the first followers of Jesus were Jewish there was a temptation justify their faith in Jesus as well as his authority, by forcing Jesus into many aspects of the Old Testament scriptures.

And many Jewish counter-missionary groups take them to task on it. Most of the NT was written on the basis of making Jesus fulfill the messianic prophecies of the OT so that they are in a double-pickle since they need the OT to substantiate the claims while it from another perspective refutes such. So its a matter of revision, spin and interpretation of the texts that counts to the cult concerned.

Our creator Son Michael completed 6 previous bestowals among the diverse orders of his own created celestial beings over a period of 1 billion years earth time. The 7th and final bestowal as required by his paradise Father, was that of a mortal of the realm. He chose our fallen and sin darkened world to complete the experiential requirements of sovereign creatorship.

7. The Seventh and Final Bestowal

(1316.4) 119:7.1 For tens of thousands of years we all looked forward to the seventh and final bestowal of Michael. Gabriel had taught us that this terminal bestowal would be made in the likeness of mortal flesh, but we were wholly ignorant of the time, place, and manner of this culminating adventure.

(1316.5) 119:7.2 The public announcement that Michael had selected Urantia as the theater for his final bestowal was made shortly after we learned about the default of Adam and Eve. And thus, for more than thirty-five thousand years, your world occupied a very conspicuous place in the councils of the entire universe. There was no secrecy (aside from the incarnation mystery) connected with any step in the Urantia bestowal. From first to last, up to the final and triumphant return of Michael to Salvington as supreme Universe Sovereign, there was the fullest universe publicity of all that transpired on your small but highly honored world.

(1316.6) 119:7.3 While we believed that this would be the method, we never knew, until the time of the event itself, that Michael would appear on earth as a helpless infant of the realm. Theretofore had he always appeared as a fully developed individual of the personality group of the bestowal selection, and it was a thrilling announcement which was broadcast from Salvington telling that the babe of Bethlehem had been born on Urantia.

(1316.7) 119:7.4 We then not only realized that our Creator and friend was taking the most precarious step in all his career, apparently risking his position and authority on this bestowal as a helpless infant, but we also understood that his experience in this final and mortal bestowal would eternally enthrone him as the undisputed and supreme sovereign of the universe of Nebadon. For a third of a century of earth time all eyes in all parts of this local universe were focused on Urantia. All intelligences realized that the last bestowal was in progress, and as we had long known of the Lucifer rebellion in Satania and of the Caligastia disaffection on Urantia, we well understood the intensity of the struggle which would ensue when our ruler condescended to incarnate on Urantia in the humble form and likeness of mortal flesh.

(1317.1) 119:7.5 Joshua ben Joseph, the Jewish baby, was conceived and was born into the world just as all other babies before and since except that this particular baby was the incarnation of Michael of Nebadon, a divine Son of Paradise and the creator of all this local universe of things and beings. And this mystery of the incarnation of Deity within the human form of Jesus, otherwise of natural origin on the world, will forever remain unsolved. Even in eternity you will never know the technique and method of the incarnation of the Creator in the form and likeness of his creatures. That is the secret of Sonarington, and such mysteries are the exclusive possession of those divine Sons who have passed through the bestowal experience.

(1317.2) 119:7.6 Certain wise men of earth knew of Michael’s impending arrival. Through the contacts of one world with another, these wise men of spiritual insight learned of the forthcoming bestowal of Michael on Urantia. And the seraphim did, through the midway creatures, make announcement to a group of Chaldean priests whose leader was Ardnon. These men of God visited the newborn child in the manger. The only supernatural event associated with the birth of Jesus was this announcement to Ardnon and his associates by the seraphim of former attachment to Adam and Eve in the first garden.*

(1317.3) 119:7.7 Jesus’ human parents were average people of their day and generation, and this incarnated Son of God was thus born of woman and was reared in the ordinary manner of the children of that race and age.

(1317.4) 119:7.8 The story of Michael’s sojourn on Urantia, the narrative of the mortal bestowal of the Creator Son on your world, is a matter beyond the scope and purpose of this narrative.

Self-Distribution of the First Source and Center

(108.4) 10:1.1 It would seem that the Father, back in eternity, inaugurated a policy of profound self-distribution. There is inherent in the selfless, loving, and lovable nature of the Universal Father something which causes him to reserve to himself the exercise of only those powers and that authority which he apparently finds it impossible to delegate or to bestow.

(108.5) 10:1.2 The Universal Father all along has divested himself of every part of himself that was bestowable on any other Creator or creature. He has delegated to his divine Sons and their associated intelligences every power and all authority that could be delegated. He has actually transferred to his Sovereign Sons, in their respective universes, every prerogative of administrative authority that was transferable. In the affairs of a local universe, he has made each Sovereign Creator Son just as perfect, competent, and authoritative as is the Eternal Son in the original and central universe. He has given away, actually bestowed, with the dignity and sanctity of personality possession, all of himself and all of his attributes, everything he possibly could divest himself of, in every way, in every age, in every place, and to every person, and in every universe except that of his central indwelling.

(109.1) 10:1.3 Divine personality is not self-centered; self-distribution and sharing of personality characterize divine freewill selfhood. Creatures crave association with other personal creatures; Creators are moved to share divinity with their universe children; the personality of the Infinite is disclosed as the Universal Father, who shares reality of being and equality of self with two co-ordinate personalities, the Eternal Son and the Conjoint Actor.

(109.2) 10:1.4 For knowledge concerning the Father’s personality and divine attributes we will always be dependent on the revelations of the Eternal Son, for when the conjoint act of creation was effected, when the Third Person of Deity sprang into personality existence and executed the combined concepts of his divine parents, the Father ceased to exist as the unqualified personality. With the coming into being of the Conjoint Actor and the materialization of the central core of creation, certain eternal changes took place. God gave himself as an absolute personality to his Eternal Son. Thus does the Father bestow the “personality of infinity” upon his only-begotten Son, while they both bestow the “conjoint personality” of their eternal union upon the Infinite Spirit.

(109.3) 10:1.5 For these and other reasons beyond the concept of the finite mind, it is exceedingly difficult for the human creature to comprehend God’s infinite father-personality except as it is universally revealed in the Eternal Son and, with the Son, is universally active in the Infinite Spirit.

(109.4) 10:1.6 Since the Paradise Sons of God visit the evolutionary worlds and sometimes even there dwell in the likeness of mortal flesh, and since these bestowals make it possible for mortal man actually to know something of the nature and character of divine personality, therefore must the creatures of the planetary spheres look to the bestowals of these Paradise Sons for reliable and trustworthy information regarding the Father, the Son, and the Spirit. of the First Source and Center

How do we know UB is all true?

That's the big question isn't it? How do we know what to believe?

How did the apostles know what to believe? They had been born into a religion like the rest of us, there was an anticipation of a coming deliverer, there had been other false Messiahs that predated Jesus, yet they became followers of a carpenter from Nazareth who was very different than the expected Messiah, he was very different than the rigid observers of the sacred law that the Jewish people had been told was delivered to Moses directly by God???

It was the indwelling spirit of the Father in the hearts of men and women who bore witness to the truth spoken by the Son.

It is time for the children of God to put away the graven images of men produced by the priesthood and develop the ability to discern spiritual truth on their own. Not so much perfect historic or growing scientific truth, rather the Living Word of God whom we may find in our hearts.

Myself, when I first heard bits from the UB at around 14-15, it was like I already knew the spiritual truths being spoken.

And you? Gullible? Think how you are told to think or else!?!? Believe absurdity simply because Pope-like church government men organized historicities for the largely illiterate common man?

I'm 51 now, I grew up in a Christian church, I've had plenty of years to consider the books used to make the Bible.
