Hmm.. Is Cruz a little anti-Catholic?

He said he is Irish, Cuban and (I think?) Italian but somehow he ended up Southern Baptist.

True, that doesn't mean he said he is antiCatholic... but hey, everyone is anticatholic...

anyway....

whatever...

He could still be a good president, as long as he doesn't round up all the Catholics and put them in interment camps... like a lot of posters here would like...

ironic that those who didn't want to discuss O's Kenyan origins now want to discuss ad nauseum Ted Cruz's possible citizen problems... which are not a problem b/c his mother was a US citizen @ time of his birth

As you learned, Obama was born to a Kenyan citizen and an American citizen, in Hawaii. So he is natural-born in both senses. McCain was born in Panama to American citizens, so he is a citizen in one sense, but not the other.

Ted Cruz was, until recently, a Canadian citizen, having dual citizenship by virtue of being born in Canada to a Canadian citizen and an American citizen.

He recently rejected his Canadian citizenship, becoming a wholly American citizen. Whether or not this is a legal problem for him, is unclear.

Just to be clear, I would never advocate something tyrannical like that.

If indeed Cruz has eligibility problems, we conservatives should hope that he uses the same document forger that Obama had.

Would have been a good one, having dozens of officials, newspaper writers, nurses, doctor, and so on, paid off to lie over 35 years in advance of the political campaign.

That was not only savvy, but remarkably prescient, no?

BTW, it appears that some of the same frootloops who where howling about Obama's credentials are after Cruz for his much shakier ones:

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, a likely candidate for president in 2016, released his Canadian birth certificate over the weekend, but that's unlikely to end discussion about whether he meets the Constitution's ill-defined standard of natural-born citizenship.

"Clearly there is an issue of eligibility," crusading skeptic of President Barack Obama's birth certificate Orly Taitz told U.S. News. "It's basically the same issue as Obama has."

Cruz was born in Calgary, Canada, in 1970, according to the document. He automatically acquired U.S. citizenship through his American mother, but he also likely gained automatic Canadian citizenship.

"He's a Canadian" too, Stephen Green, a past chairman of the Canadian Bar Association's Citizenship and Immigration Section, told the Dallas Morning News.

It's going to be a major issue for Cruz, if he decides to run. How he'll deal with it, or with the fact that he chose to not be a Canadian only after becoming interested in the presidency, will be interesting to watch.

What's remarkable is that you think that dozens of officials, newspaper writers, nurses, a doctor and so on covered the birth of a little bi-racial baby born in Kenya 54 years ago (B. Hussein is the 2nd Coming for liberals like barbarian, but nevertheless...)

Sorry barbarian, but the truth has been revealed about your President.

While there’s no legal precedent for Cruz’s situation, most constitutional scholars surveyed by POLITICO believe the 42-year-old tea party sensation would be OK. But there’s just enough gray area to stoke controversy, as Cruz learned during his campaign for Senate last year.

http://www.politico.com/story/2013/...z-but-is-he-eligible-85873.html#ixzz3QJo7pbLP

In Cruz's case, nobody is disputing the underlying facts of the case -- that Cruz was born in Canada to a Cuban father and a mother who was a United States citizen. As we wrote back in March, that makes him a U.S. citizen himself, but it's not 100 percent clear that that is the same thing as a "natural born citizen" -- the requirement for becoming president.

Most scholars think it's the same thing, and the Congressional Research Service said in 2011 that someone like Cruz "most likely" qualifies to run for president. But to this point, there is no final word from the courts, because while foreign-born candidates have run -- including George Romney and John McCain -- none of them has actually won and had his eligibility challenged.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...-birthers-are-not-the-same-as-obama-birthers/

So the guys who were claiming that Obama was born outside the U.S. and that therefore made him ineligible to be president, are now doing pretzel bends trying to explain why Ted Cruz, who actually was born that way, is eligible to be president. A few, like Orly Taitz, are being consistent, and argue that being born in another country, with a foreign citizen as father, disqualifies him.

It's great entertainment. Unfortunately, for Cruz, it's probably enough to hobble his bid to be president.

a lot of stuff here is off topic.

ok maybe where he was born has relevancy but what is really relevant and important is who becomes pres and how that person will do in office

Yes, I think that's a much bigger problem for Cruz than his recent decision to abandon his Canadian citizenship, or his failure to provide the long form of the birth certificate.

His father is almost scarily mentally ill. Any kid growing up in such a family will be adversely affected.
