I haven't the foggiest idea what the Hun's politics were but I am as far right as anyone you've ever come across. Presuming, of course, that you've never come across an angel or a Christophany or other heavenly being.

Using the Laffer Curve is not a good idea for making tax policy. While it is theoretically plausible that there may be an ideal tax rate where the government collects the most money, there's no reason to hold to the notion that the government should collect the most money possible. The actual tax rate should be well below whatever the theoretical Laffer Curve ideal would suggest. The government shouldn't be given one thin dime more than it needs to provide for the common defense, the settling of disputes and the prosecution of criminals.

If you want to know the truth, I pay very little (perhaps too little) attention to who is saying whatever it is I'm responding to. I'm just responding on the merits of what was said. If you say you're a conservative, that's good enough for me.
Socialism isn't a form of political rule. It's an economic system, and it deals exclusively with who owns the means of production. If you think that the State should own the means of production, then you are a socialist.

Neither Capitalism or Socialism are ideal forms of goverment. They both have their pluses and their minuses. But if I have to chose between the two I would chose Capitalism.

"Robert Pate" is making the assumption that people are only motivated by money or some form of material reward.
How does one explain young American soldiers charging ashore on Omaha and Utah beaches during D-day, Tarawa, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg and dozens of other examples where people faced an agonizing death - without any prospect of some future financial renumeration.
