It's close with me. Searchers is impossible to beat, but Red River is right there, birthday girl.
Goodnight then, my friend. And many happy returns.
He just applies his character to the part he is given.
Or Jimmy Stewart. You might say the same about John Wayne

I've enjoyed every movie De Niro film.My favorite Robert De Niro films are;
Good Fellas
Casino
Analyze this
Analyze that
I've enjoyed every movie De Niro film.
But for sheer entertainment, I loved Midnight Run, when he played a bounty hunter and everything went wrong for him.
De Niro auditioned for the part of Sonny in the first Godfather movie.Has De Niro ever played a more calm character than this?
Yeah, Grodin was hilarious (in that dry humor sort of way) and really got on the De Niro character's nerves.Yep :thumb:
Great, great film.
And Charles Grodin - fuhgetaboutit - he was absolutely hilarious!
Come to think about it; the way he would consistently drive the DeNiro character up the wall (set in his ways as the latter was) is exactly the same way by which I drive some of the MADs on here up the wall :chuckle:
And here is that audition.De Niro auditioned for the part of Sonny in the first Godfather movie.
It went to James Caan instead.
The reason they gave for not choosing De Niro is because they said he was way too intense in his audition and REALLY got into the character, so much so that the folks conducting the audition said they were actually afraid of him!!!!!
Agreed....can't act. He just applies his character to the part he is given. He is, in effect, just playing himself in different roles.
John Wayne was my next example and I'm please that you also saw this. His playing the Roman Centurion in the greatest story ever told was the pits.
