Thou, who givest light divine, shine with me, Lord, O shine.
Show me, if I tempted be, how to find all strength in Thee,
And a perfect triumph win over every bosom sin.

Keep my feet from secret snares, keep my eyes, O God, from tears,
Every step Thy grace attend, and my soul from death defend.
Then when fall the shades of night, all within shall still be light;
Thou wilt spread peace around, gently as the evening dews.

When the weary, seeking rest, to Thy goodness flee;
And the heavy laden cast all their load on Thee;
Or the troubled, seeking peace, on Thy name shall call;
And the child, with grave fresh lip, youth, or maiden fair,
Or the aged, weak and grey, seek Thy face in prayer;
And the widow weeps to Thee, sad and lone and low;
If the orphan brings to Thee all his orphan woe…

When the stranger asks a home, all his toils to end;
And the hungry craveth food, and the poor a friend;
If the soldier on the field lifts his heart to Thee;
And the man of toil and care, in the city crowd,
When the shepherd on the moor, names the name of God;
And the learned and the high tired of earthly fame,
Upon higher joys intent, name the blessed name…

If the worldling, sick at heart, lifts his soul above;
Or the prodigal looks back to his Father’s love;
And the proud man, in his pride, stoops to seek Thy face;
Or the burdened brings his guilt to Thy throne of grace,
We ask Thee hear in love, O Lord, from Thy dwelling place on high.
Hear in love, O Lord, our cry, from Thy glorious dwelling place on high,
Yes, in Heav’n, Thy glorious dwelling place on high.

There is Rest for the Weary

In the Christian’s home in glory there remains a land of rest;
There my Savior’s gone before me, to fulfill my soul’s request.
There is rest for the weary, there is rest for you.
On the other side of Jordan, in the sweet fields of Eden,
Where the tree of life is blooming, there is rest for you.

O God, Great Father, Lord, and King!

It is Real!

O how well do I remember how I doubted day by day,
For I did not know for certain that my sins were washed away.
When the Spirit tried to tell me, I would not the truth receive;
I endeavored to be happy and to make myself believe.
So the truth would make me happy and the light would clearly shine,
And the Spirit gave assurance that I’m His and He is mine.
But it’s real, yes it’s real! O I know it’s real!
Praise God, the doubts are settled, for I know, I know it’s real!

The shadows of the evening hours fall from the darkening sky;
Upon the fragrance of the flowers the dews of evening lie;
Before Thy throne, O Lord of Heav’n, we kneel at close of day;
Look on Thy children from on high, and hear us while we pray.

The sorrows of Thy servants, Lord, O do not now despise,
But let the incense of our prayers before Thy mercy rise.

Give us a respite from our toil; calm and subdue our woes.
Through the long day we labor, Lord, O give us now repose.

Dear Lord, as twilight softly falls, and nature sinks to rest,

Forgive the word, the thought unjust, the kindly deed undone;

The stream of years is flowing, and we are onward going,
From old to new surviving and by His mercy thriving.

In woe we often languish and pass through times of anguish,
Of wars and trepidation alarming every nation.
As mothers watch are keeping o’er children who are sleeping,
Their fear and grief assuaging when angry storms are waging.

So God His own is shielding and help to them is yielding.
When need and woe distress them, His loving arms caress them.

Our work, which prospers never unless Thou bless it ever.

My loved ones, rest securely, for God this night will surely
From peril guard your heads — sweet slumbers may He send you,

Singing for Jesus! Praising His Name!

Singing for Jesus! praising His name! Gladly our tongues we employ;
holiest service, loftiest aim, purest of earthly joy.
Blow, ye breezes, gently blow; spread our anthem far and wide:
Jesus all the world must know: He for all was crucified.

Praying to Jesus! lowly we bow! Weeping, our sins we confess;
Faithful the promise! sacred the vow! Jesus is waiting to bless.

Thou hidden Love of God, whose height,

Now Rest Beneath Night’s Shadow

Now rest beneath night’s shadow the woodland, field, and meadow,
The world in slumber lies, but Thou, my heart, awake thee,
To prayer and song betake thee; let praise to thy creator rise.
The radiant sun hath vanished, His golden rays are banished
By night, the foe of day, but Christ, the sun of gladness,
Dispelling all my sadness, within my heart holds constant sway.

The rule of day is over and shining jewels cover
The heaven’s boundless blue, thus I shall shine in heaven,
Where crowns of gold are given to all who faithful prove and true.
To rest my body hasteth, aside its garments casteth,
Types of mortality; these I put off and ponder
How Christ will give me yonder a robe of glorious majesty.

Lord Jesus, who dost love me, oh, spread Thy wings above me

Thy mercy will not fail me: I rest in Thy protecting arm.
My loved ones, rest securely, for God this night will surely
From peril guard your heads; sweet slumbers may He send you

Softly sighs the breath of evening, stealing through the shadowy grove,
While the stars, in heaven shining, keep their silent watch above.

Faithful watch above us keeping, to protect us through the night.
When the morning, gently breaking, tints the sky with golden rays,
