Oh No Not Another Apocalypse Thread By Chrysostom

I am getting ridiculed endlessly. What's your point?

I quote (myself):
“ [Think] of it like this. In our seventh month, July 4, 1776 we Americans declared independence from the UK. Think of it like, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams, both died on the same day, July 4, 1826, the 200th anniversary of this is coming up this year. And also James Monroe died on July 4 in 1831. Five years later. Three of our first five presidents all died on July 4th.

“ It would be like arguing that these coincidences mean that America is part of God's deliberate plan for the World. Our independence, plus the deaths of three of our first five presidents, all occur on the same day in our seventh month. That coincidence can't be a coincidence. Seven means Gentiles, also (where 12 means Israel, seven means Gentiles; cf. Mark 8:19-20¹). In the seventh month of the Gentiles, America was founded and three of our first five leaders died on the same day as our independence, and two of our first three died on the same exact day, which was exactly 50 years, which is 49 plus 1, which is related to jubilee, after we declared independence.

“ That's a wild theory. ”

A Revelation -
A word mentioned 27 times in the Apocalypse. John knows the Lamb of God. Who else? John the Baptist. Who was preparing the way for the first coming? John the Baptist. Who failed to mention the seven churches? Victorinus. Who failed to associate them with the Apocalypse? Eusebius. Who doesn't get it? Nearly everyone. Home 23

¹ Also note:

$$ Re 1:11
Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send [it] unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

Those seven churches are Gentile churches. Seven means Gentiles.

I trust the bishops as a collective, as a college, as the magisterium, which is the bishops plus the pope. They are the ones, they are the party, who preserved the Bible for us. The Apostles set in motion the magisterium, and Jesus set in motion the Apostles.
Okay so what did they tell you? Did John eat the book?

A Commentary Like No Other -
A writer named Josephine Massyngberde Ford names John the Baptist as the original writer of the Apocalypse. Hard to believe but it answers all the never ending questions of who, why and when??? He was preparing the way for the first coming. The Lamb. A word found 27 times in the Apocalypse. He didn't know it was Jesus. Home 24 MENU

Revelation 10:10
Can we ask the question? Can we answer it? Should it be a scroll? What book?
Did Ezekiel eat a scroll or was it just a roll? It certainly was not a book as some would have it.
We do have a translation that has a scroll in chapter 5 of the Apocalypse and a book in chapter 10. That would suggest another John much later took possession of the book so he could prophesy again.

A Commentary Without The Churches -
A history that doesn't connect the dots. Victorinus does not mention the seven churches. Eusebius does not associate the churches with the Apocalypse. They are looking at the original Apocalypse written by John the Baptist. It does not have the seven churches that were later added by John the Apostle. Really. Home 25

A Name John Three Times -
A reason for this. There are three different Johns. John the Baptist who bare record. John the Apostle to the seven churches and John Chrysostom, who also am your brother, was in Ephesus at the beginning of the fifth century replacing seven corrupt bishops. John ate the little book and was asked to prophesy again and again. Home 26 MENU

You can't ignore history.
Especially when numbers and colors are used to connect it with prophecy.
Only numbers and colors are translated accurately.
Everything else is just someone's interpretation.

You can't ignore history.

You can. But where in history are you saying the book of Revelation changed?

Especially when numbers and colors are used to connect it with prophecy.

Non sequitur.

Only numbers and colors are translated accurately.

No. A lot, in fact most of Jesus's parables translate without difficulty.

Everything else is just someone's interpretation.

Jesus's parables translate accurately.

The 70th week didn't happen yet. Which means the restoration did not happen. Which means the 1000 year reign did not happen, nor the new heaven and earth, along with the new Jerusalem, which goes to the DESCENDANTS of Abraham.

10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. 12 Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 13 three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west.14 Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15 And he who talked with me had a gold reed to measure the city, its gates, and its wall. 16 The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs. Its length, breadth, and height are equal. 17 Then he measured its wall: one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel. 18 The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass.

In fact, for those just reading and think there might be something serious about the clown host of this thread....

Moses wrote this in Genesis by the Holy Spirit.

7 And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you.

8 Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.”

Daniel wrote this by revelation of the Holy Spirit

24 “Seventy weeks are determined
For your people and for your holy city,
To finish the transgression,
To make an end of sins,
To make reconciliation for iniquity,

Luke states this conversation happened, by interview and revelation from the Holy Spirit.

4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”

The Lord Jesus Christ said you don't need to know the timing.

Peter at Pentecost said this. You should like it. It has water baptism, a ceremonial cleansing of sin.

38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Peter, by revelation of the Holy Spirit who gives him utterance flat out says the restoration of Israel is a future event.

18 But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. 19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, 20 and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, 21 whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.

Then Stephen says to the leaders of the church in Jerusalem...

51 “You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you. 52 Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers, 53 who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it.

57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord; 58 and they cast him out of the city and stoned him.

And in comes the plot twist. Israel has fallen. They did not keep the law, and they rejected the messiah after his resurrection. In comes Saul of Tarsus. You catholics know him as "St. Paul". Yes, he is saint, the same as all Christians.

13 Then Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem. 14 And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name.”

15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. 16 For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake.”

The Lord Jesus Christ returned to earth and called Saul, and sent him to the gentiles.

16 But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you. 17 I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you,

And Paul's message is this, regarding Israel and their timeline.

11 I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles.

13 For I speak to you Gentiles; in as much as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry,

We are saved by grace, not by keeping the law of Moses which Israel has to keep, to drive them to jealousy. This is what the scripture says, right in front of you.

25 For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written:

“The Deliverer will come out of Zion,
And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;
27 For this is My covenant with them,
When I take away their sins.”

28 Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. 29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

Paul's message to us is simple.

3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

18 Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

And if you only read one book of the Bible, it should be Ephesians.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
