Am I missing what these numbers mean? I thought Pittsburgh and SF each had four SB wins in their respective decades of dominance?
No, the Steelers won the first four in 75, 76, 79, and 80. The Niners won in 82, 85, 89, and 90.

The SB is always held in January, which means the regular season that gets you there is a year behind. So if you want to you can move each back a year and get the four and call the Steeler and Niner margins as 4-2 against the runner up.

That's what I was missing. So you're counting the year in which the respective SBs were played, instead of the corresponding NFL seasons that these teams won (in the SB that was played the following calendar year). Gotcha, I think. :)

They barely missed dominating the 70s. They lost by only three points to Baltimore and by four twice to the Steelers. If they would have won just one of those games they would be the only team to dominate in two different decades.
And if the Bills had a better kicker who knows? A great franchise, but losing twice to the team that ultimately dominated the 70s puts the consideration to rest. The only real shame I see with the Cowboys is Jerry firing a coach that could have won him a couple of rings, instead of coasting to one more with a place holder. And, of course, wasting Romo.

I forgot to mention Dallas played twice in the NFL Championship game to the team who dominated the 60s, the Green Bay Packers. In '66 and in '67 the Boys just lost by seven and four points in those Championship games. After barely beating the Boys in those games the Packers totally dominated the KC Chiefs by 25 points and Oakland by 19 in the first two Super Bowls.

Former offensive coordinator and "genius" Charlie Weis is finally off the Notre Dame payroll, where he was sucking up ND's TV revenue. According to yahoo, about $18 million.

Did you ever notice how much better Tom Brady got after Charlie Weis left? Even without Randy Moss on the roster.

The school made a final payment of $2,054,742 to Weis in December of 2015 as part of the former head coach’s buyout after being fired following the 2009 season, according to tax forms released Monday. That payment was the final one of six installments (he was Notre Dame’s highest-paid athletics employee in 2014. Seriously.), which followed an initial payment of $6,638,403 after his firing.

Current Irish coach Brian Kelly received $1,645,867 for the filing period — from July 2015 to June 2016 —

Kansas has also paid him millions to stop coaching at their school. Who then hell is his agent? Somebody with mind control powers?

But I hear that more than what he was paid at $18M buyout, is tame as some coaches were paid like $20M.

Kansas also is paying that walrus to not coach. Any way, Tet was talking about the long pass plays, and google shows us videos we watch on youtube. So I will paste this one on the page.

LOL....The Steelers crushed the Cowboys in both Super Bowls in 1975 and 1978. There was no "barely missed" against the Steelers.

The Cowboys were down by 18 late in the 4th quarter of Super Bowl XIII, then the Cowboys scored garbage points at the end of the game when the Steelers went into their prevent D.

Same thing with Super Bowl X. The Steelers were up by 11 late in the 4th, then the Cowboys scored garbage points at the end of the game when the Steelers were in their prevent D.

The Steelers dominated the 70's, especially against the Cowboys.

The Steelers sacked Roger Staubach 7 times in Super Bowl X. A record that still has not been broken.

You want to talk about "barely missed"?

Had Bradshaw not gotten hurt and taken out of the 72' AFC Championship Game, the Steelers would have won the Super Bowl in 1972.

Had Franco Harris not broken his ribs in the AFC Divisional Game in 1976, and missed the 76' AFC Championship Game, the Steelers would have won the Super Bowl in 1976.

IOW, the Steelers "barely missed" winning 6 Super Bowls instead of the 4 Super Bowls they won in the 70's.

Maybe so, but the Steelers still have more Vince Lombardi Trophies than the Patriots, and the Steelers managed to win 2 Super Bowls during the Patriots run.

Once again, since Jerry likes to talk about "barely missing"...the Steelers lost 3 AFC Championship Games to the Patriots from 2001 - 2017....the Steelers "barely missed" winning the 2001 game....which would have gave the Steelers 4 Super Bowl appearances that decade, and taken 1 Super Bowl win from the Patriots.

However, us Steeler fans don't do the "barely missed" thing like Jerry and Cowboy's fans do.

The Cowboy's have won like 3 playoff games in 20 years....that's why they do it.

Sure! The Steelers won both games by four points and in both games the Steelers got every break in the book!

You are delusional! In the regular season the Dolphins beat the Steelers. Then in the Super Bowl the Cowboys totally dominated the Dolphins, 24-3.

Even "if" that would have happened the Steelers still would have come short of the 5 Super Bowl appearances in the 70s by the Boys!

That is a logical fallacy. Shown to be a fallacy every fall on Saturdays as well as Sundays.

Did you see both teams play during the '72 season?

Perhaps you missed the part about that scenario plays out all the time. Team A loses to team B and team C. Team D beats team b and team C. Therefore, team D will beat/is better than team A.

Then team A gives team D a beating. This occurs in football more than any other sport.

The 85 Bears were hammered in the Orange Bowl against Miami. New England beat Miami 2 of the three times they played them. Therefore, the Patriots should handle the Bears with ease.

Demonstrating faulty logic. Marino had big numbers that year, but not great numbers.

Demonstrating faulty logic.

Let us look at your logic. tet said that the Steelers should have won the '72 Super Bowl.

But that season the Steelers had a 6-8 record.

The Cowboys had a 11-3 record in the regular season and had won nine straight games when they played Miami in the Super Bowl and beat them badly, 21-3.

That is the only game in Super Bowl history when a defense allowed no touchdowns. And the Cowboys led the NFL that season in points scored with 406.

Logic anyone?
