More From the Loony Left

Again, by calling a spade a spade? Projection does not help. The far right in America have wingnuts in spades from Qanon nuts to election denying dopes and all manner of out there stuff between.
Clans, mobs, gangs, groups, and nations of unsaved barbarians commonly produce violent enemies of God and good leadership.

Qanon followers are monumentally gullible, simple as that. If being blunt amounts to 'posturing' in your book then guilty as charged. In reality, nothing of the sort.
There is hardly anyone more gullible than the rube who believes that democrats did not commit voter fraud just because they say so.

You mean clans like the very pro-Republican Ku Klux Klan?
Democrats created the KKK to fight against republican efforts to integrate blacks into society. Democrats kept the Klan alive for decades and now that the Klan has all but dissolved the democrats dishonestly claim republicans support the Klan. What republicans support the Klan? What republicans support those who support the Klan? Confused, fake, or dishonest republicans by the handfuls maybe, but no more.

Maybe these lying leftist democrats posing as republicans also pose as Klan supporters?

That aspect of it doesn't bother me. There are precedents. What bothers me is the social bullying that occurs if you refuse to accept it. It's language evolution by fiat, enforced by bullies on social media.
When I participated in the rabid fourth wave extremist feminist group on Reddit, I was struck by how disciplined their moderators were at quashing any discussion, any criticism of trans issues (or any criticism of Joe the Rapist for that matter).

Which makes this all the more remarkable

This honestly doesn't surprise me...The Gay community (At least the ones I know/have discussions with) has been annoyed in general for quite some time over this Trans stuff. 🙄

When I was on the feminist group, I would be notified every time there was a new post and so I saw all the traffic as it was posted, and soon realized that much of it was being deleted. From that I was aware that there was a strong current of opposition to trans (and to Joe the Rapist) that was being silenced.

Curious fact - the moderators were based in Mexico City.

This change in policy by Twitter isn't going to stop people from accurately describing democrats as members of The Groomer Party. Because that's exactly what they are.

If I am the professor, I will assign the homework. What was the original meaning of homework and how does it differ from the current definition?

What do you mean by your phrase, "meaning of homework"? Are you saying that the word, 'homework,' means something? It doesn't. Words don't mean things. Persons mean things by the words they speak, when they are speaking meaningfully. Words themselves...really they just kind of sit there, passively, getting said by some person(s) now and then—and once in a while in a cognitively meaningful way, at that. Words certainly don't say themselves.

Do you just mean, what did the first person who said the word, 'homework,' mean by it? I don't know. Who cares? Why should anyone care about that, Professor?

According to the OED, the original meaning of "homework" was the same as "housework."
Before you couldn't do homework at the library, now you can.

When you say, "Before you couldn't do homework at the library, now you can," to which are you referring by your word, "homework": to 1) homework, or to 2) housework?

IOW, which one of the following, two things do you mean, and which one of them do you not mean?

  1. "Before you couldn't do [homework] at the library, now you can"
  2. "Before you couldn't do [housework] at the library, now you can"

If a dolt babbles on in a forum, are his posts ever received?

If after the first occurrence it catches on for a period then we say the word had that meaning for that time.

Both.

Yes

Yes

You have received zero credit on this assignment. Try to apply yourself and you may do better next time.

Correct responses recognized homework = housework at T1, but at T2 homework =/= housework but rather meant any preparatory work for an academic setting.

Why not just ask yourself, proud dolt? It sure looks like you're more than happy to receive your own, mindless babbling.

If after the first occurrence it catches on for a period then we say the word had that meaning for that time.

Since you're obviously emotionally invested in standing by your rank stupidity of asserting your cherished falsehood that words mean things (against the truth that only persons mean things by words they speak), I'll ask you: What (if anything) do you mean by saying that a word "has meaning"? Please, Professor Poser, could you describe for us exactly what, according to you, it would be for (say) the word, 'field,' to "have meaning"?

Obviously that's false. When you say "Before you couldn't do homework at the library, now you can," by your word, "homework," either you are 1) referring to something you could always do at the library, or you are 2) not referring to something you could always do at the library. And, were you to be referring to something you couldn't always do at the library, then you'd necessarily not be referring to something you could always do at the library. Perhaps you're really as dumb as you make yourself sound—too dumb to understand—but any rationally-thinking person has no difficulty understanding that something that you could always do at the library is not something that you couldn't always do at the library. So, if by your word, "homework," you're referring to the one, then (contrary to your stupidity) you're necessarily not referring to the other.

Semantics are simply not your forte. Back to the original point:. The meaning of words change over time (and place for that matter ie, consider regional differences). The terms woman and man are changing. Get over it.

What (if anything) do you mean by that? Or, are you just treating us to the spectacle of another of your mindless emotional outbursts?

Thinking logically is clearly something you refuse to do.

Ok doser understands it. Doesn't agree with it but comprehends semantics. Maybe have a tutorial with him and rejoin class at a later time. Cheers.

I asked you:

Lawson: <NO ANSWER>

It's sad that you throw tantrums because you can't answer elementary questions of semantics about the things you choose to say. Why you can't answer them is simply because you are using your words entirely emotively, rather than in a cognitively meaningful way. See, you'd need, in the first place, to be speaking meaningfully, in order to be able to answer the question I asked you. Enjoy your chagrin, Lawson.

:cautious: Well....Yeah, I know about this. That's my point. A few half-wit suburban ofay paddies on 4-Chan use the most common hand signal in the world as a joke and suddenly it's a "white supremacist's hand sign" and everyone who has their picture taken making the sign is a racist.

It's been my experience the only people more capable of taking things out of context and running to ridiculous lengths more than my fellow professed "Christians" are Progressives.

I have quite a few...*ahem*...Tiki Torches (Although admittedly not the Dollar Store bamboo ones that those who obviously cannot fashion a proper torch favor. Mine are wrought iron) And I would hate to have to hide them lest the neighbors get the wrong idea.

Do you suppose they are using the citronella oil in those...Maybe the scented?
