Jesus is God !

The New Testament clearly teaches that Jesus claimed to be God. The Bible also affirms the deity of Christ. This is evident in a variety of ways. First, Jesus claimed to be equal with God. He could forgive sin, something only God could do (Mark 2:5). Jesus claimed power to raise the dead (John 5:25-29). He claimed to be honored as God (John 5:18, 23) as well as to be equal with the Father (John 10:30).

Second, Jesus claimed to be the great "I Am." John 8:58 states, "Jesus said to them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.'" This "I Am" reference is made in connection with Exodus 3:14 where God revealed His name to Moses as "I Am." Jesus' statement, then, is a biblical claim for the deity of Christ.

Third, Jesus claimed to be Yahweh God, the same God of Israel from the Old Testament. This included His claim to have eternal glory with the Father (John 17:5), His claim to be the first and the last (Revelation 1:17), His claim to be judge of all humanity (John 5:27), His claim to be the Good Shepherd (John 10:11), His claim to be the Bridegroom (Matthew 25:1; Isaiah 62:5), and His claim to be the light of the world (John 8:12; Psalm 27:1).

Fourth, Jesus also claimed to be the Messiah God. This is evident in many of the titles attributed to Him in the Old Testament that are referred to in the New Testament. These include reference to Jesus as God (Psalm 45:6 and Hebrews 1:8), Lord (Psalm 110:1 and Matthew 22:43-44), Ancient of Days (Daniel 7:9 and Mark 14:61-64), and as Messiah (John 4:26). These references affirm the biblical deity of Christ.

Fifth, Jesus accepted worship as God. Though the Old Testament commanded not to worship anyone but God alone, Jesus accepted worship on many occasions. Some of these included the healed leper who worshipped Him (Matthew 8:2), the ruler who knelt before Jesus after his son had been healed (Matthew 9:18), the Canaanite woman (Matthew 15:25), the mother of James and John (Matthew 20:20), and a demon-possessed man (Mark 5:6). The disciples even prayed to Jesus (Acts 7:59) and in His name (John 14:6; 15:7).

Sixth, Jesus' followers recognized Jesus as God. They called Him God on multiple occasions (John 20:28; Colossians 2:9), referred to Jesus by other names used only of deity, such as Savior of the world (John 4:42), and prayed to or worshiped Jesus as part of the Godhead (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14). John taught He was with God in the beginning as "the word" and that "the word was God" (John 1:1).

While the New Testament never makes the direct statement "Jesus is God," it is clear that He is referred to as deity in a variety of ways. Colossians 2:9 confirms, "For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily." (See also Philippians 2:6). Those who claim Jesus never referred to Himself as God deny many clear statements in Scripture (such as John 14:6). The deity of Jesus is biblical. Jesus is God, the second person of the Triune Godhead, consisting of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made." (John 1:1-3). How different is this from the opening verses of the other Gospels! John opens by immediately presenting Christ not as the Son of David, nor as the Son of man but as the Son of God. John takes us back to the beginning, and shows that the Lord Jesus had no beginning. John goes behind creation and shows that the Savior was Himself the Creator. Every clause in these verses calls for our most careful and prayerful attention (An exposition of the Gospel of John by A. W. Pink)

Another portion of scripture that I believe denotes Christ as being God the Creator is Heb 1:8-12

8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:

11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;

12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.

Now its no question the context here in Hebrews is speaking of the Son of Gpd Heb 1:2 and in the description of Him we have verses 10-12, the Lord, in the beginning has laid the foundation of the earth, and heavens are the works of His Hands. This portion of scripture is found in the Psalms of God for sure Ps 102:24-26

24 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.

25 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.

26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:

Again... for the completely DEAF (that's you keypurr)...

This does NOT say that ONLY the Father is the true God. (no matter what you want it to say).
Actually John 17:3 does make it clear that the Son of God, has a God. And his God, is the only true God, which is the Father.

This doesn't change the fact that the Son of God is referred to as God though because the only true God, the Father is in his Son. And the fullness of the Godhead dwells in him bodily. That's what makes the Son of God, God. It's the fact that his Father dwells inside of his Son bodily.

Right Divider, I'm with you on the fact that Jesus Christ is God. But your explanation could use a lot of work. Watch my video as I explain how Jesus Christ is God. I explain many aspects about Jesus Christ in the video. I explain how Jesus Christ is a Man, Jesus Christ is a prophet, Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God, and Jesus Christ is God. I explain how he is all these things, watch the WHOLE video ok.

That particular verse does NOT say that "Jesus has a God".
The point is that this verse does NOT say what the heretics want it to say.

What is says:
  • The Father is the only true God.
What is DOES NOT say:
  • Only the Father is the true God
This doesn't change the fact that the Son of God is referred to as God though because the only true God, the Father is in his Son. And the fullness of the Godhead dwells in him bodily. That's what makes the Son of God, God. It's the fact that his Father dwells inside of his Son bodily.
That is nonsense. The Father and the Son were distinct persons long before the incarnation.
John 17:5
(17:5) And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
This Son was the one that came to earth as a man, NOT the Father.

I'm sure that you're quite proud of your video, but I have no interest in watching it.

Nope. Your theology is incomplete. Listen to the scriptures:
Joh 17:10 All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them.
Isaiah 42:8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

It forces you to surmise that the Father and Son are one. There is no other way, IF you adhere to scriptures. If you don't, it is a moot talking point: all the rest of Christianity is interested in scriptures, not what people try and figure out without scripture.

"Priest" The term means 'pillar' and certainly the Lord Jesus Christ is our Solid Ground.
Most who contest, are doing so over the 'sacrificial' aspect and are saying "I'm not Jewish, I'm a gentile" and as gentiles, look through Paul's writings for 'priest' or indication and don't see it.
However, they adhere to the cross and His shed blood for the remission of all sins, but substitute 'Savior' for Priest AS the lamb. The Lord Jesus Christ does make intercession for us before the Father (Romans 8:34 Hebrews 7:25).

I'd assume here that "Priest" is subsumed by "Lord, Savior, God?"

"Priest" The term means 'pillar' and certainly the Lord Jesus Christ is our Solid Ground.
The word means 'priest' too though, involving rituals and altars and sacrifices, and partaking of that altar too.

The Gentiles all had priests, but they were priests to Athena or Artemis or whoever. When they worshiped the Apostles they were going to have an altar and make sacrifices to them, that's literally what idolatry was. Nowadays people don't come from traditions with priests. They either are basically spiritual but not religious, or they're that but they call themselves atheists, but in any case there's no priest.

That wasn't true for the Gentiles of the Bible, they all had priests. Idolatry was called out numerous times in the Bible, Old and New Testaments. All the Gentiles had priests. So this idea that Gentiles don't have priests so therefore nothing to do with priests has to do with my faith in Christ, that's baloney. All Gentiles had priests.

You have a new Priest.
However, they adhere to the cross and His shed blood for the remission of all sins, but substitute 'Savior' for Priest AS the lamb.
I don't understand what that means, but they definitely do accept the benefit of the priestly sacrifice made by our High Priest the King of the Universe, the Lord Jesus Christ, Who is seated at the right hand of the Father. And then they deny that anything priestly or religious or ritualistic has occurred. That is literally what it means to the historical New Testament Gentile who is told---by Paul the Apostle to the Gentiles--- "Christ died for our sins", 1st Corinthians 15:3; a sacrifice was offered on an altar, and the sacrifice was so valuable, and the deity in question was so real, that it satisfied that very real deity on the behalf of every man, woman, child, forever.

And the deity raised Jesus from the dead just to prove it.
The Lord Jesus Christ does make intercession for us before the Father (Romans 8:34 Hebrews 7:25).

I believe the Nicene and Apostles' creeds.

At this point, I think most of it is discussed as to where we are and what everyone understands regarding the term priest. I am washed in His sacrificial blood He offered up so see Him as my priest. It'd fall on another at this point to discuss why 'priest' is inappropriate for the Lord Jesus Christ for them.

Jesus is also God because Hes the Creator of all things Col 1:16

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

This coincides with Prov 16:4

The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

The created in Col 1:16 and the made in Prov 16:4 are the same, and they are regarding the same Lord.

Jesus Christ the Son of God is also God as stated in 1 Jn 5:20

20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

Jesus Christ , Gods Son here is the nearest antecedent to the phrase " This is the True God and Eternal life"

And we know Jesus Christ is called eternal life elsewhere in Johns writings 1 Jn 1:2

2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us)

That Jesus is God is testified to all over the scripture. He is called the Mighty God Isa 9:6

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Isaiah again used the same phrase Mighty God here Isa 10:21

The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.
