Infraction Jubilee ...

It is time to reset all infractions. Expire all outstanding infractions and reset the system so that new infractions expire in months, not years.

Why? Because there are members who have become so burdened by past transgressions they now resemble the Greek debt crisis. They can not escape. When they do get to return to active status a single point sends them off for a month, three months or even six and the expiration date on each new infraction is a year or two.

The wisdom of a Jubilee is not predicated on the concept that debtors could have done better but rather that no one should be a slave for life. It is a biblical proscription.

In the case of infractions once a member has reached 8 points they are virtually trapped into an impossible cycle. It doesn't take a math wizard to figure this out. One way out is to simply not post for 2 or 3 years. At that point the member may as well be considered perma-banned.

You know something Eeset? You are not happy unless you are complaining about something.

:rotfl:
Sherman I was trying to recommend something that might improve the dynamics around here. You have highhandedly banned or infracted many members who had previously been active in discussions.

I agree, but wonder why infractions were not reset when REP was? Seems they are two sides of the same coin?

Then they should learn how to behave themselves.
Sure. In other words be politically correct. If a member is an atheist they are to refrain from expressing their view that there is no God. If a Unitarian do not make statements about trins. And so on and so forth.

Sorry, but I prefer to hear the truth and not stifled statements. That is, by the way, why Trump is leading in the voter polls. People are fed up with being fed falderal. Our country and the world are a mess and the politicians don't care as long as they can stay in power.

I have learned the lesson you are teaching. I do not express myself openly here on TOL. I behave (well for the most part). What that means in short is that you remain ignorant about my theological perspectives. I'm sure that suits you just fine. It is, after all, the very definition of bliss.

I think TOL is a wonderful internet site.
