I do have a little story to add to this thread. Native American does happen to be part of my heritage--Crow on my fathers side and Cherokee on my mother's side. This bloodline did bless me with nice hair and skin that really does not sunburn.
Anyways, there was a man in the church that I attended in my younger years, that was half Native American. He gave me the name Singing Elk. At the time I was in the Navy. I could not get rid of that name. Some of the sailors attended my church. 'Elk' became my call sign.
The name still follows me around.

No, I don't mean Indian names as in American Indians just the way they named theirselves. It was cool then and today. I guess I could call it Samoan names, the flying BBQ breath was actually my uncles name : ulutunu.

My dad did give me an "Indian name" but I don't want to risk sharing it.

Didn’t you like the Indian beliefs, IJ?
I was looking for a book on them a while ago, but couldn’t find much.

An alternate thread for keep a word save a word.

Make up an Indian style names with modern technology.

This story can be a guide.

This guy came to his father and asked his Father, why did you name me Leaking condom? And you gave my sister, Moon beam, such a beautiful name.

Well son said the father, for us, names have a very special significance. Your sister was conceived by your mom and I when we had sex in an open grass field while beautiful rays of moon light washed over our bodies.

Son, Did this answer your question?
