Ignoring context creates confusion

Most, if not all, of the anti-MAD folks will quote some scripture that supposedly shows that Paul's ministry was not too different from that of the twelve apostles for the twelve tribes. Invariably, they take the verse(s) out of context.

Take this verse as an example:

1Cor 5:7 (AKJV/PCE)​

(5:7) Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: ​

"See", they will say, "Jesus is OUR" (referring to the body of Christ) "Passover".

What's the problem with this? The US in that passage is NOT the body of Christ. Paul is NOT speaking to the body of Christ as a whole, but to Israelite's.

Back up a few verses and this becomes abundantly clear.

1Cor 5:1 (AKJV/PCE)​

(5:1) It is reported commonly [that there is] fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.​

There are many other places in Paul's epistles that Paul speaks directly to HIS people Israel.

I agree the we's and you's and us's are important, and context is required to know the target groups. But in that chapter and the next Paul makes it clear that he is talking about the church at Corinth and himself...if you actually read the context to glean information from it. He is including himself with the church in the we's and us's and excluding himself from them in the you's. In other words, he condemns them for how they were handling the sin in their midst and talks about how they and he both are partakers of Christ's sacrifice. It would make no sense at all to talk about the exclusive passover, then explain in such detail how it is Christ's body and blood they partake of.
