The Apostle Paul tells us how to give:

(2 Cor 9:7) Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Notice the Apostle Paul doesn't tell us to sell everything we own and give it all away.

But Jesus did.

Again: You ignore what Jesus said in favor of Paul.

Always.

He cursed the Pharisees.

Wrong. Woe to you rich; you've already received your comfort.

When did he ever praise the rich? Extol them? Give them as an exemplar?

Try never, tet. He detested the wealthy.

My point throughout this thread is that Christians and Christian Churches are to help and take care of the poor. It is not the government's job to take care of the poor, the government is really bad at it, and the government's only way of doing it is to take money from people who work.

If that's the case you guys suck at your job, to be blunt.

This country has produced more wealth, and more wealthy people than any other nation in history. People hide in cars and boats to try and get here, yet you guys hate this country.

Who is the "you guys" you refer to? What kind of idiot phantom are you chasing?

You don't practice what you were told to do. End of story. Most Christians don't.

You're proving my sig with every post.

Sooner or later you're gonna tell me Dives got a raw deal

You do know that Parables aren't actual history?

Dives was on the wrong side of chasm because he didn't help Lazarus.

Dives didn't even give Lazarus the crumbs that fell from his table.

Dives could have helped Lazarus without selling everything he owned.

Woe to you, rich.

You were told to give up what you had.

Just another typical hypocrite. Don't worry--more where you came from.

Faith-based charities outperform secular charities.

That's why Bush funded faith-based charities.

The success rate of faith-based addiction facilities versus government facilities isn't even close.

It's a lot easier battling addiction once you make Jesus Christ your Savior than to have some government/secular facility try to help you.

Should Christians today NOT go amongst the Gentiles and Samaritans?

You don't, that's the whole point. This whole thread's been a sickening display of you people strutting about "the poor" and how they don't "deserve" a thing. I consider you a pack of blood-sucking elitists who hide behind a Bible to justify your misplaced snobbery.

The shame is you're mostly a bunch of working class or middle class people, but you got sucked into this America Casino game where you! YES, YOU! Might be a millionaire one day.

I'm sure talking to a smack addict versus medicine is effective.

Are you trying to kill people?

I'm a cheerful giver.

Unlike angry Liberals who give next to nothing of their own money to the poor because their too busy complaining about the 1%.

Somehow Liberals think that if they could just "eat the rich", there wouldn't be poor people anymore.

You like to quote Jesus. How about quoting the verse where Jesus said "you will always have the poor"?

Which means you'll always have the rich. What's their reward, tet?

Put another way: Who do you think Jesus considered the good guys, in that situation?

So, what's your solution Granite? Should everyone live in the same size house, drive the same kind of car, make the same wage, wear the same clothes, eat the same food?

Eternal life is 100% based on faith in Christ Jesus, nothing else. Faith = eternal life....No-faith = death

Again, you don't appear to know the difference between the old covenant and the new covenant.

So the best you've got is "God will."

Pathetic.

You've danced around every question I've asked here and done nothing but serve as a lickspittle to the rich.

Well done. Give an evangelical a shove and you'll find some empty, craven, money-grubbing suit.

Correct me if I'm wrong. You believe the following:

1) Only poor people can get into Heaven
2) Rich people cannot get into Heaven
3) The government should take care of poor people
4) Jesus hated rich people
5) The Apostle Paul was a phony Apostle who contradicted Jesus

I'm I correct?

I would support a reasonable but more modest minimum wage increase than what President Obama is asking for. Businesses are already trying to see how they will afford healthcare mandates. I suspect that large increases in the minimum wage will hurt everyone except rich folks. We have to remember that there are many low income consumers to fit into the overall picture. Many businesses will cut hours or the number of their employees if the increase is too large.

It's a bad idea to bring it up to what it was all at once. The real value of the minimum wage has been declining for some time, and the last raise didn't come close to doing that. However, the optimum really depends on the economy at the time, and what the economy will do in the near future. As you suggest, increases on the scale of previous raises have not caused detectable harm to the economy or to unemployment rates.
