Dogs are not members of a family and if you consider a dog to be your best friend where does that leave Messiah? You are an idolator.

The translator of the Berkeley Version (one which I rather like) rendered it "doggies" to get the point across of the particular kind of dog in question:
We seem to be alone in what seems to be the correct translation of the discourse between the Phoenician mother and Jesus, Mat. 15:21-28. She sought healing for her daughter; Jesus sought a chance to educate His apostles. “It is not fair,” He said, “to take the children’s bread and to throw it to the doggies.” According to the original He did not speak of dogs, but of little dogs or pups, a much milder phrase, not kunes but kunaria. The mother did better than my fellow-translators have done; she caught on to His gentleness and she won. A retired missionary from China, who came across this reading, smiled happily because so he had himself translated it this way to his people.

This makes more sense. If this passage is not translated right, Jesus sounds harsh, not like a teacher would be. Thanks for teaching me something I didn't know.

Make yourself familiar with the conditions of dogs and how they are to approach God before the dispensation of grace. See Genesis.

So you only have one friend in the world. Not surprising. And the Lord Jesus Christ wants nothing to do with you, you are dead. You are the opposite of your screen name. Your fruit is evidence that we know you as a wolf.

Hmm, that's a bit of a change around from a few years back where you, PK and others tried to use the passage in question to justify puerile insults by attempting to show that Jesus did it - which was never gonna work. It's pretty obvious that He wasn't literally insulting the woman or simply calling her a dog - something that is more than undermined considering what He went on to do for her after her reply, that was to heal her daughter.

How many people do you know who perform a great act of kindness for someone after an intentional derogatory slur? I'm figuring round about zero.

As to the OP, then dogs - and indeed other pets become loved members of the household - and they give a lot back in turn. Truster would think that enjoying a film would equate to idolatry so not much point in addressing...

No it isn't. He insulted her. And when she blessed Israel, then he blessed her.

So in your mind Jesus intentionally insulted a fragile woman who sought Him out for help for her daughter's sake, and it was only because she alluded to Israel after that "insult" that her daughter was healed?

It's no wonder you only quoted me in part as you'd find any lengths to 'justify' your own 'insults' frankly.

We know you reject what he said. But if you feel you need to continue to remind us feel free. Some foolish people here don't think you are on the high way to hell shaking your fist at God.

Got multiple personality disorder there Nick - else what's with the 'we'? Else do please show how Jesus was actually insulting the woman He then went on to do a great kindness towards and explain such in a way that makes sense if possible...

Our present dog is a poodle, and so pretty worthless as dogs go. But he's very shaggy so looks like a naked Ewok.

The term "man's best friend" is, for most of us, a bit of a figure of speech. Though it is true that dogs tend to be a bit more relational than other animals, and there are a lot of real world examples of a dog being willing to lay down his life for the family he cares for.

Dogs become loyal members of human families because of their pack instinct. This is by no way decreases the value of what dogs offer humans.

The Messiah laid down His life for the people He cares for Delmar.

The word dog in scripture always refers to Gentiles, but the manner in which it is used is useful when attempting to understand the contempt in which both were held.

Jews were often heard to say they were eternally grateful not to have been born a dog or a woman.
