Love can be understood in one of four ways so love is not just love. Our love must be directed and used in a way that brings honour and glory to the Almighty.
Most people have now turned from the Creator unto the creature and scripture speaks of this along with the inevitable consequences. I refer you to Romans 1.

Dogs can love you more than some humans ever could.

The terrible thing about us humans is if we get loved by a dog why would we ever be cruel to it? Yet those who may be hard to love by other humans may be childishly cruel to their pets.

Yes, one of my exes use to proclaim that she loved cats more than humans. I use to say "It shows." I do have to admit that I learned to understand cats better because of her, though I love humans more than any animal. I would give my life for another human. I would not do the same for an animal.
