Many people are wrong in their understanding on many things, but straight out disobedience to the words of Jesus shows a complete disregard for His person.
Col 4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
It is best to state your case from scripture and then leave it.

There is only one God the creator who is the Father of Jesus, but there is also the son of God who is God over the new creation.
The word God is not a name but denotes Heavenly authority.
There are many Gods in that sense, but only one true God who is the Father of Jesus and the creator who has raised up a man to be God.

The Bible says there is only One God and He is the Father.
Jesus and God are the same.
Since Jesus is God, then he is also the Father who is God.
Jesus is the Word who is God come in the flesh.
Jesus says those who overcome will be his children.
Revelation 21:7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.
Jesus says those who see him have seen the Father.
John 14:9 Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?
