Did the presidential debates change anyone's mind?

Ah but there is a huge difference between the parties that they represent.

Remember that the Jack As...ahem...Donkey's BOO'ed God at their National Convention.

Leave the Presidential ballot box empty if you must, but don't avoid voting for good Christian conservative candidates running on the Republican ticket just because the pseudo con's at the RNC put yet another establishment liberal on the presidential ticket.

I'm not leaving it blank. I'm just not voting for Obama or Romney.

That depends on which end of the political spectrum you support. In 1996, Perot split the conservative voters, undermining Dole. Nader's effect in 2000 was minor, but he did weaken support for Gore in a very close election, and the Republicans even ran some pro-Nader ads in an attempt to split the liberal vote.

This year, however, Anderson, Goode, Johnson, and Stein are having only a minimal effect on the two big players. Voting for a third party candidate will not have the effect it had in 1996, but as close as the race is, no matter which side of the aisle you prefer, splitting the vote may make a difference.
Perot was a moderate; he did not split conservative voters.

Same here, but the debates were never aimed at us. They are designed to do two things, whip up the base and move the undecideds. The bases are excited because they both believe this is a horse race and the undecideds, well, we'll see. They've been leaning heavily in the President's favor on debate, but will they still feel that way in November? I don't know. I think it depends on a number of things, from effective add campaigns to economic indicators.

I didn't care much for any of the candidates, this time. I didn't last election, either. But, I did enjoy the looks on people's faces when, after having them tell me that I was a racist because I didn't vote for Obama, I told them that I voted for the other black guy. :chuckle:

Given the polling data has them neck and neck they can't even say that really, though it's a bully tactic to begin with.

Right now, I haven't decided whether I'm going to write in Allen West, Tom Hoeffling, or Judge Roy Moore.

It has been said that for the most part the gut instinct of the majority of Americans has been pretty good in picking our Presidents - do you disagree?
Americans have been terrible at choosing presidents, now demonstrated by the slim lead Romney now has, and that their votes that made it possible for the stupidest president ever to cheat his way into office twice in 2000 and 2004. All we get are Democrats who tow the establishment line too much and can't tell the truth, and Republicans who represent the establishment lock stock and barrel. Americans are just stupid. :mmph:

Sometimes we've done pretty well. Often ... not so much. Case in point: Jimmy Carter. The biggest reason he was elected is because we as a nation were disgusted with the Republicans. The man did some good things--his handling of Three Mile Island was masterful--but to be perfectly blunt, he was in over his head before he took the oath of office.

FDR is another example. The "New Deal" was fundamentally a "kitchen sink" solution--throw any idea, no matter how untested, at the problem and see if it helps. His true greatness was in refusing to give way to the isolationists, and in getting our industry geared up first to support Britain's war effort, then in our own war effort. But he pulled, or attempted to pull, some stupid stuff along the way (such as the Court-packing scheme).

No, we've not done all that well.

And if Israel goes down?

What force in the world could possibly cause Israel to go down? They have all the nukes and the strongest military in the region, so I don't think they are going anywhere. Iran or any other nation would simply be assuring their own destruction if they attacked Israel, and they know it. All of the tough talk is just hot air. And Israel, for its part, would rather live in peace just like anyone else. So nothing is likely to happen either way.

I didn't say Perot was conservative (which would be foolish--the man was all over the map). Nor was he the deciding factor in Dole's loss. But he did undermine Dole's efforts--I seem to remember (and may be incorrect) that a lot of Perot supporters would have favored Dole had Perot not been in the race. This is in contrast from the 1992 race, where Perot pulled about the same amount of support from each candidate.

Yes, the debates have changed my mind. Before I only had a feeling that Obama was a fiendish, arrogant, small minded amateur. Now, he has convinced of that fact.

And if Israel goes down?

Who cares if Israel goes down?

According to the new testament isn't the church the new israel?

Not a christian, I'm asking this as an outsider who just happens to know a little about the Bible.

Acts 5:31
He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Acts 10:36
The word which He sent to the sons of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all)

Acts 13:23
From the descendants of this man, according to promise, God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus

Romans 9:6
But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel

Israel won't go down. She is still the apple of God's eye.

The church is not the New Israel. That's replacement theology which is heretical.

That's gotta sting then, your candidate handing him his hat twice now. Imagine how ugly it would have gotten if he'd been a professional.

Relax fellow Tiger fan. He's just a guy taking his swing, same as Romney. That they're both full of ham and beans goes with the sort of nearly unimaginable compromise anyone in their position subjects themselves to in order to be in their position.

On the one hand, Israel is the only reliable friend we have in the Middle East. They are the only country with a stable government.
God has not forsaken His people.
I care what happens to Israel. And I am not alone!
Imam Obama has shown his hand to the Islamic countries and they are in process of taking full advantage of his indifference.

Really? They didn't change my mind at all. I still see Romney and Obama as being the same. I am not going to vote for either of them because there is no huge difference between the two of them.

That doesn't mean that I'm not going to vote, though. Now, I know that some of you will say that if I don't vote for Romney, I will be voting for Obama. I don't agree with you guys. A vote for another person is just that, a vote for another person. Right now, the way I look at it, if either Romney or Obama wins the election, nothing much will change.

Yes, Obama is worse than I could have imagined.

Obama is an evil man who cares only for himself.

Romney is about service to our country.

Obama serves only himself.

If we needed/wanted a golfer for President, we should have voted for a good golfer, like Tiger Woods

A dead golfer would have done more for our country than Obama has.

Yes, Obama is worse than I could have imagined.
Given most of what follows I have to think you're being modest.

Obama is an evil man who cares only for himself.
Then he can't be a socialist. So at least we've settled that one.

Romney is about service to our country.
Of course he is. Self service, trickle down his chin economics.

Obama serves only himself.
Supra (see: socialist)

If we needed/wanted a golfer for President, we should have voted for a good golfer, like Tiger Woods
Reagan like horseback riding and chopping wood. Should we have elected Clint Eastwood or Jack Nicholson? And why Tiger?

A dead golfer would have done more for our country than Obama has.
Really? You couldn't work sub par in? :plain:

If You Are A Christian, Please Read This!

If You Are A Christian, Please Read This!

I've heard Christians say that they're not going to vote for one reason or another. But I tell you that voting in this election matters more than you can imagine -- especially if you are a Christian!

Romney may not agree with the religious views of Bible-believing Christians, but he is not hostile toward them.

On the other hand, Obama is hostile toward Christianity. But the American media has suppressed it and has kept it largely from public knowledge.

But the link below will show you, overwhelmingly, the hatred and hostility Obama feels toward Christians and Christianity here in America. See for yourself his contempt for Christ during these last 4 years. And then realize that if he is re-elected, he is going to implement a 4-year assault on Christian freedom in this country that will strike fear in the hearts of every Christian. If you don't believe me, just go to the link below and see for yourself!
