Yes, I think Jesus would not deliberately mislead people on such a large point. He also said that to prove his authority “tear down this temple (pointing to his body) and in 3 days I will raise it up again”.
Billions of believers have read the words of Jesus in the scripture and see something different than the fringe anti-divinity crowd.
He believed God's promise that God would raise him up
Without that believing God's hands would be tied and Jesus would not have been raised
Mark 11:23
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Jesus Christ taught plainly how to believe and thus how to achieve God's goals and purposes for our lives
If Jesus had any doubt about the promise of God, Jesus would not have been believing
Maybe you can explain I Thessalonians 4:16 for me, specifically the emboldened words,
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and
the dead in Christ shall rise first:
If I am dead when Christ returns as described in this passage, will I
a. be raised from the dead
b. rise up of my own volition
What say you? What does that phrase say?
If I look only at that phrase it would be simple to conclude that I will raise my self up from the dead for that passage says nothing about either God or Jesus raising me from the dead
Read it for yourself:
I Thessalonians 4:13-17
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Obviously, most Christians are not careful readers of the scripture, hence, they continue to believe the trinity and other errors
