in 1st Timothy 5:8 (KJV) Paul appears to tie together behavior and faith,

No it doesn't. And all of Paul's writings directly state otherwise. What you confess shows your heart. Not your control over the flesh. In fact, Paul rebukes your claims over bragging about behavior being tied to salvation.

And thanks to Sozo, wherever he is, over driving home this point.

God's Holy Spirit is with us. The Lord Jesus Christ sent the Holy Spirit when he left. He said so. Why do you ask? In fact, the Holy Spirit is poured out on all flesh, even those outside of Christ. That is why they feel guilt over their sin which was forgiven. He was lifted up, and he draws all unto him.

You can go to Pakistan and bring a picture of Jesus and every one of them know who he is and what happened. By the way, islam's attempt to work around doesn't work, so they say they are "the final religion". And addendum if you will.

Unbelievers are not Christians. They do not have Christ's Spirit.

But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. (Romans 8:9)

Fine, then explain it, because what he says seems very clear to me, "if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."

Worse than an infidel, worse than a heathen pagan unbelieving atheist; worse.
What you confess shows your heart. Not your control over the flesh.
I believe this too, so why does Paul say what he did, "he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel?" He hath denied the faith. In his behavior, he hath denied the faith, not in his confession.
In fact, Paul rebukes your claims over bragging about behavior being tied to salvation.
I don't claim that.

Sneaky Sozo. :)

Of course they do not have the Holy Spirit in them. That isn't what the text says, nor is it what I said. Strawman...

Paul does not say those that don't provide are an unbeliever. He is making a declaration about their behavior. You are adding to the text what is not there.

It does make you wonder why people have such a hard time understanding idiomatic expressions in the Bible.

"Worse than an infidel" is just simple HYPERBOLE. No reason for them to get confused, but they are.

Come on, you're playing word games. He said he hath denied the faith. That's an unbeliever, shaking his fist at the Maker, no doubt about it. He hath denied the faith, I'm not adding anything to the text.

Paul is using hyperbole, plain and simple.
So you think it's a scare tactic. If an Apostle is employing a scare tactic, what would you think that he really meant by employing such a tactic? If it's not woodenly literally true that, "he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel," what exactly do you think is true? Could we say with definitive confidence that Paul is deeply concerned that the Church provide for her own, and specially for those of her own house?

I wouldn't say "scare tactic", but it is clearly hyperbole.

You are most certainly trying to use the verse out of its context to make it meet your need to confirm your false doctrine.

Those, like you, that reject the truth of salvation by grace through faith always see "lose your salvation" verses all over the place. And, of course, they never apply to you because your faith is unquestionably perfect.

Then what would you say? It's hyperbole but you wouldn't say "scare tactic," then what? Explain.

Nope.
