Calvinism: A Denial of the Lordship of Jesus Christ

The resounding message of the New Testament witness is that "Jesus is Lord". A Lord is one that has dominion over his domain.

"And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it" Colossians 2:15.

Many will say if Jesus has defeated sin, death and the devil, then why is there so much evil in the world? This is the age of sin and death, it is also the age of grace and faith. Everything is being played out to the end. When Jesus returns it will be the end of the age of sin and death. It will also be the end of the age of grace and faith. There will not be a chance for salvation after Jesus returns, there will only be judgment.

When Jesus entered into heaven, having defeated sin, death and the devil, God made Jesus both Lord and Christ, Acts 2:36.

"Who being the brightness of his glory and the express image of his person and upholding ALL THINGS by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high" Hebrews 1:3.

God sees ALL THINGS in his Son Jesus Christ. As far as God is concerned, Jesus has defeated sin, death and the devil and is the, "King of Kings and the Lord of Lords" Revelation 19:16. It doesn't matter how you see things, nor does it matter what you think. All that matters is how God thinks and sees all things, and God sees ALL THINGS in Jesus Christ. Jesus is God's new Adam and our new humanity. In Jesus Christ we have been justified, Romans 3:26, sanctified and redeemed, 1 Corinthians 1:30.

Calvinism is a denial of the Lordship of Jesus Christ. To say that Jesus did not atone for the sins of the whole world, 1 John 2:2, is to say that Jesus is not Lord. To say that Jesus is not Lord is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit and is the unforgivable sin. No one will be saved that does not believe that Jesus is Lord. To say that Jesus only atoned for some sins, but not all sins is to say that Jesus is not Lord and is not of the Holy Spirit. The foundation of the Gospel is the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the fact that he has defeated sin, death and the devil and is the savior of the whole world, John 12:47.

If Jesus has victoriously defeated sin, death and the devil and is Lord, then that means that all religions are worthless. This is why Paul said, "And you are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power" Colossians 2:10. This is how Jesus has reconciled us and the world unto God, 2 Corinthians 5:18, 19. Jesus perfects our humanity in himself and presents it to God as perfect and complete in himself. This means that salvation can only be by grace through faith. Everything else is a denial of the Lordship of Christ and his Gospel.

The "dispensation of grace" is eternal. If it's not, then one cannot be saved. By grace through faith we are saved. If the "dispensation of grace" ends, our salvation ends as well.

:mock: ~Them, using the word 'lordship' as if it serves any gambit in their church~

Calvinism is what will teach you about ~lordship~, not the other way around- you all hardly understand what "King of Kings and the Lord of Lords" entails. The only thing you all see is "Jesus is Lord".

Stop dumbing down the Bible

"Jesus is Lord" because he has victoriously defeated sin, death and the devil. Without faith in the Lordship of Jesus Christ you will never see heaven.

Cool story. Tell me what color the sky is next.

Lordship is something that echoes through any proper church. There should be a council, a consensus led by the Spirit, and so on. Sounds kind of familiar, don't it :plain:

It's something that the apostles not only taught but partook in, and is why every historical church has such things.
But not you all; you all are "special".

To believe in the Lordship of Christ is to believe that he has victoriously defeated sin, death and the devil.

If you believed that you would not need a religion.

People that are religious and that have a religion, don't believe that Jesus has victoriously defeated sin, death and the devil. They are trying to do that in their flesh.

Which is why MAD fails. It makes scrambled eggs out of the Gospel and turns into a split religion - one for Jews and one for Gentiles.

Hello Robert,

Based upon your very clear (1) through (6) up there, we are compelled to conclude that you hold the position that all persons who maintain, to the end of their lives, belief in the Calvinistic Theological System are going to end up in Hell --- your (1) through (6) does in fact say exactly that.

This means, based upon your chosen language formulations, Charles Spurgeon is now in Hell. Charles Spurgeon was one of America's greatest Calvinistic preachers, and he maintained a strong belief in the Calvinistic Theological System to the end of his life. So did John Calvin and a long list of other Reformed Christians. On your lights, they are all now in Hell.

You of course can always deny that you intended your (1) through (6) to be interpreted the way I interpreted it.

Do you deny that?

Based upon your (1) through (6), is it your position that Charles Spurgeon is now in Hell?

To say that Jesus is not Lord is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit and is the unforgivable sin.

I disagree.

The Lord Jesus was very clear in defining the unpardonable sin, and it was NOT saying that Jesus was not Lord.

Here is how the Lord Jesus defined the unpardonable sin:

"Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, *but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.” He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.” (Mark 3:28-30)

And in Luke 11:15 "But some of them said, He casts out demons through Beelzebub the chief of the demons."

So . . .

The blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is to:

(1) Observe the miracles Jesus performed by the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit, and then . . .

(2) To attribute the power behind those miracles to the power of Satan

Note: The reason that doing this was unpardonable, was because one reason Jesus performed his miracles was for the purpose of inculating faith in the hearts/minds of those who were witnessing those miracles (see John 10:36-38 below). Therefore for them to attribute the power behind those miracles to Satan, was, said Jesus, unpardonable. Why unpardonable? Because that meant they could not experience the intended inculation of faith in the Lord Jesus as their Savior.

"Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’? *Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. *But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.” John 10:36-38

Conclusion: The unpardonable sin is to say,"He casts out demons through Beelzebub the chief of the demons." (Luke 11:15)

The Gospel of Jesus Christ will be the deciding factor in the judgment.

You either believe it or you don't.

To believe the Gospel is to believe that Jesus victoriously defeated sin, death and the devil and in doing so reconciled a world of lost sinners unto God, 2 Corinthians 5:18, 19,

Salvation always has been and always will be by faith. The question is do you have faith in Christ.

What Jesus accomplished on behalf of humanity is the Gospel.

Mark 1:15 Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God and saying, “The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the gospel.”

Jesus' gospel was about the availability of the kingdom of God. I haven't seen you say much about God's kingdom. Your posts are about Jesus Christ, but not about the gospel he preached.

Your gospel is different from Jesus' gospel. I don't think you're on the same page with him.

Hello Robert,

♦ Your (1) through (6) taken as a whole together forces you into holding and teaching an interpretation and application of the Holy Bible that is totally and absolutely irrational.

♦ Your interpretation of the Holy Scriptures, if believed, would force all reasonable people to believe that the following list of Calvinists are not Christians and are either already in Hell, or are very likely to end up in Hell. To believe such nonsense is absurd and ought to be rejected by reasonable men.

♦ You would have us believe that the man that wrote Rock Of Ages is now in Hell.

♦ And that the Christian that wrote Pilgrim's Progress is now in Hell.

♦ You would have us believe that the man that wrote Amazing Grace is now in Hell.

List of a few famous Calvinists:

Arthur W. Pink: 1886-1952 (Bible teacher and theologian)

♦ For you to hold the position that the writer of Amazing Grace and Rock of Ages is now in Hell, or likely to be in Hell, is beyond absurd. Holding and teaching such as that destroys your credibility as a Bible interpreter.

I don't hold men's persons in admiration, you apparently do.

Jesus said, "Few there be that find it" Matthew 7:14.

Jesus didn't come into the world to save the intellectual. Just because someone is smart does not mean that they believe the Gospel.

My thought is that if you are really trusting in Christ to save you, then all that you need is Christ and his Gospel. Everything else is "sinking sand".
