The unlikely account of how the emails surfaced raised immediate questions about Russian involvement, particularly because U.S. officials have warned that Russia — which backed Trump’s 2016 campaign through hacking and a covert social media campaign — is interfering again this year.

The episode is being investigated as part of a possible Russian influence operation, according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity to the Associated Press to discuss an ongoing matter. It underscores the extent to which Giuliani, through his activities, is a risk to a White House that spent years shadowed by a federal investigation into whether Trump associates had coordinated with Russia.

A reverse image search of one of the photos in the story indicated that the shop's owner is a man named John Paul Mac Isaac, whose social-media activity suggests he is an avid Trump supporter. His shop, called The Mac Shop, is at 21a Trolley Square in Wilmington. The Post also did not strip the metadata from photos included in the article, and a software engineer named Russel Neiss noted that the GPS information embedded in some of the images showed that the repair shop was in the same area.

Thomas Rid, a professor of strategic studies at Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies who recently published a book called "Active Measures" that focuses on the history of disinformation, said that the way the purported emails surfaced in the first place was dubious.

"This here is highly suspicious behavior," Rid tweeted after the Post's story was published. "Especially when viewed in the context of a political campaign. Creative, anonymous, credibility-generating, somewhat plausible. Exactly how a professional would surface disinformation and potentially forgeries."

Rid added that the emails featured in the Post's story were published as images rather than in a file format, which "makes it harder to analyze and verify the files."

"Note that photos, which appear to look genuine, could be there simply to add credibility to forged emails surfaced along with the photos. This would be a standard tactic in disinformation operations," he wrote.

Even a cursory look at the material Giuliani has produced, shows problems:

What caught my eye immediately was the tremendous clarity of the text, when compared to the “VP” gmail icon in the upper right-hand corner. Something appeared to be off, and upon further examination, it was. Look what happens when you zoom into the PDF file (see image below). The text in the file remains crystal clear, yet the gmail icon for “VP” gets extremely pixelated. Even in the un-zoomed version, the icon is blatantly pixelated.

This is the hallmark of email alterations. There is no reason that the gmail icon should be of a different resolution than the text on the same document, unless of course the icon or the text were photoshopped in.

But to make matters even more interesting; if you view the “VP” icon, you will also notice that the right side of it is flat, and there is a very light gray color around it which does not match the background of the document. The gray background aligns perfectly with where the would-be circle is abruptly squared off. This confirms that someone used an editing tool to cut this icon out and then paste it onto a new document.

John Cornyn, 68, is running for a fourth term as a senator for Texas, having been first elected in 2002. Before then he was the state's attorney general, and a judge before then.

He has become just the latest Republican up for re-election to try and give the impression of distance from Trump, after Mitch McConnell was at pains to stress he had not been to the White House since August; Martha McSally repeatedly refused to answer if she was proud of her support for the president; and Ben Sasse told a private phone call he expected Trump to lose.

Not everyone who supports Trump is a racist. I think Clinton said they were maybe 30%. Which would be pretty much all the racists, judging from most data.

I'm voting for Biden because as an American, I have no choice. Biden's salient feature is that he's capable of working with people across the aisle to get things done. And that's what America desperately needs. Trump's only function is to further divide us. We can't afford to continue that.

Yeah, but let's face it, where it comes to Trump, there's a different paradigm going on with the far right. If Obama had been caught on record aka Access Hollywood, then they'd have been all over it like scarlet fever, calling him all the names under the sun and then some. If he'd been caught paying off a porn star and subsequent scandals, the same. If he'd been caught on record for downplaying a deadly pandemic and admitting to liking to do so, the very same. If he'd been caught lying about the numbers until he had no choice but to declare a national emergency, the very same again.

But this is the far right, and often the far religious right, so MAGA!!!! Q-ANON!!!! COVID-19 IS A CONSPIRACY AND DOESN'T EXIST EVEN THOUGH OUR BELOVED PRESIDENT HAS HAD THE THING AND HAS BEATEN IT!!!!
