How long does the 10 mile ride take you?
Yesterday it took me about 50 minutes to work and 54 minutes back home. There were quite a few red lights along the way.

It is!That's cool!
More and more towns and cities are creating bike lanes. Yeah, I would never ride on the highway. Also, if there is no bike lane I would either ride on the sidewalk or take another route. We live in a big biking town. There are 19 miles of bike trails throughout the region, but many people ride their bikes on the highway to get to them and/or to commute to work. There's not much of a shoulder on the highways here and many times they can barely be seen riding in the rain at night. I think they're crazy for risking it! I'd much rather see them rack the bikes to the trail or take a motor vehicle to work.
And holy smokes! I just looked up the brand of bike you got! They are a pretty penny, but so nice!

Your face?I wanted to give an update. I found a good route through high tech business areas (I live in Silicon Valley). This is good because the amount of traffic is quite low in the early morning and there are lots of very wide bike lanes. I feel pretty safe so far. About half the trip is on trails away from cars as well. And I am already starting to see the good affects from all the exercise. Why wife says my face appears to be thinning out.

How are you riding that bike?
:chuckle:
Wait.:rotfl:
Maybe it's from the big smile...or the grimaces. Toning up those face muscles can really help.
Wait.
Doesn't it take more muscles to frown than smile?
He needs to ride like this ...
In 1974, I got an Apollo 5 Speed for my 10th birthday. It was the coolest bike a kid could have back then.
He needs a more challenging route.Yeah, and since that's the case, he should ride right in traffic. :thumb:

My wife meant I was losing weight. My old man gut is shrinking as well.
And we'll need pics for proof.you better be wearing a helmet, even though they look gay
and don't wear spandex bike shorts - they are gay
