OK, so we all know that Australia is populated by space aliens. The accent proves that. But the rest of us can't figure out which of these is the actual 'mothership':

Personally, not a thing. But it has become a rather popular holiday here in the U.S. Lots of people like to dress up and party. It's sort of a national version of Mardi Gras.

Halloween isn't really celebrated here...a little here and there but not like the US.

I think of it as being sort of like the music playing as the Titanic sank.

Do Aussies resent crass U.S. commercialism creeping into Australia? When I was there, I kept seeing KFC and McDonalds all over the place. (Oddly, they always seemed to be next door to each other.) And I was actually embarrassed by them. And even when it wasn't U.S. conglomerate chain store I was seeing, it was an obvious Aussie knock-off (of Starbucks, and Burger King, etc.).

Also, when I was there, people were discussing splitting from Great Britain, a lot, because they really didn't seem to like Charles, and they were insisting that they would not be a future King Charles' vassal. (Or something like that.)
