Who did well? Favorite moment? Who will not last?

Let's hear it.

I really enjoyed the in depth discussion on our country's problem with wealth and income inequity and the proposed policies on addressing these issues.

Yeah that was sarcasm.

Donald Trump is the leading America's conservative lemmings straight for the political "sea!"

Trump is a "novelty candidate" who has so many negatives that he could never attract the voting base necessary to win a national election.

When he eventually self-destructs and/or looses interest in the campaign, serious Republican candidates will have lost those precious months of television exposure and opportunities necessary to establish name recognition with the American electorate.

The longer Donald Trump remains the center of attention among conservatives, the more Democratic voters are assured that their candidate is headed straight for the White House in 2016.

Yet you want to expand the plutocracy that operates out of DC in the form of socialism that "helps the downtrodden".

I think its called the "American Dream!"

The problem is that there is less upward mobility in America than in any of the world's modern democracies.

That is funny! They said the same about Ronald Reagan
when he ran for Governor and won. Then they said it again
when he ran for President and won. The rinos always try to
get rid of the candidates who are not bought and paid for.
Occasionally one makes it through, and that is how we get
a Republican President. Liberal Repubs like McCain and Romney
are a recipe for another loss.

Anything can happen, but I find it very unlikely if he continues to marginalize minorities and mocks moderates.

I think it is amazing how the debate showed how far the GOP has come recently.

The crowd cheered Kasich’s response about gay marriage.
As Tet pointed out, Kasich was on home turf. The crowd was cheering a lot of what he said.

DONALD TRUMP...Single-payer Healthcare?
There may be hope for the GOP yet!
He might have supported that in the past but he denied being for single-payer last night.

Some quick thoughts....

I agree with those who thought Kasich did a good job. I came out of that liking him and want to see more of him.

Not sure how much I agree with Rubio but I thought he came across well and very likeable. I think I will pay more attention to him as well.

I thought Carson was pretty bad. Regardless of what his positions are I think he's just not good at debates or not good speaking in a situation like that. He seemed uncomfortable and awkward and that hurt his message in my opinion.

I tend to like Paul but I thought he was pretty poor last night too. He got into a couple fights that I feel he was on the losing end on and I tend to agree with Mocking You that he was condescending at times.

I think Trump will be liked more by his existing supporters but did nothing to get new support.

Didn't like Walker at all but I don't think he did anything to hurt his chances.

Bush, Christie, Cruz, and Huckabee were mostly in the middle.

Overall it's hard for me to say who the 'winner' was. If getting talked about is good no matter what then I guess Trump won.

I wish I had seen the first debate to see more of Carly because she was apparently very impressive.

which says that some babies are more equal than others.. Who was it who brought up the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment to defend prenatal life?

But YES! YES! YES!

to that candidate.. I should know who it is, but was distracted a few times during the debate... :rain::mad:

It was Huckabee.

I posted this in another thread but think it deserves to be mentioned here also.

On Morning Joe this morning someone said that Trump was just playing Reality TV guy but on a different stage. It's hard not to agree with that.

Biggest Losers

Trump: Likely thrilled supporters but must have turned off casual voters with his insults to women, Mexicans, and others. Said he gives money to politicians of all stripes in order to "get something out of them." When asked what he had gotten from Hillary Clinton he replied that "she came to my wedding." Oh boy, you bought a wedding guest. Also, as a businessman his lame answer about only using bankruptcy four times is like a surgeon saying he's only killed four patients out of the hundreds he's operated on.

I agree. I thought it was funny that he called declaring bankruptcy 'using the laws to his advantage'. I guess that's supposed to be a euphemism for going bankrupt?? :idunno:

His views on immigration are not widely shared. Just 16 percent of Americans say that undocumented immigrants from Mexico are mainly “undesirable people like criminals,” while 74 percent say they are mainly “honest people trying to get ahead.”

Even in the Republican Party, Trump’s characterizations reflect a minority view. Among Republicans, 66 percent say undocumented immigrants from Mexico are mainly honest, while 19 percent say they are mainly undesirable.

There is clear resistance to his candidacy within the party. A majority (54 percent) say his views do not reflect the core values of the Republican Party.

If Trump were to receive the GOP nomination, 62 percent of Americans say they definitely would not consider voting for him. In contrast, just over 4 in 10 say they would definitely not consider voting for Clinton, Bush or Sanders.

Trump, however, could become a factor if he were to leave the GOP race and run for president as an independent. The survey shows that in a hypothetical three-way race, Clinton is at 46 percent, Bush is at 30 percent and Trump is at 20 percent among registered voters.

Trump takes more support away from Bush than Clinton in such a contest. In a head-to-head matchup, Clinton tops Bush by 50 percent to 44 percent among registered voters.

Ronald Reagan won because he took a "big tent" approach to broaden his political base.

Trump goes out of his way to alienate groups with comments than not even the majority of Republicans believe.

Trump denounced the Iraq war & George W. Bush: he was more anti-interventionist than Rand Paul. Pathetic.

No kidding. In America it used to not be so. Social security, medicare, medicaid, AFDC, disability, Obamacare, unemployment.....took this country to the cellar. Those things to help poor people only made it easy to be poor. Good thinking. :plain:

The real GOP debate was between the Fox News team and Trump. Trump won.

I think that depends on if you went into the debate liking Trump. I do think the Fox team was a bit on the unprofessional side at times and it could make it seem like Trump was being targeted which is to his favor. Megyn's question about when Trump actually became a Republican? If you want to point out his past liberal views then that's fine, but don't word it like that.

They're all corporate owned statists, but Rand Paul and Bobby Jindal are the best ones.
I like how Cristie was like, "I will spy on every single American without a warrant.". He might be the guy to get the nomination.

Ah, can always expect the Christian position from Nick. I note from my recollection of the Gospels that Jesus did spend most of his time with the rich people, right Nick? Or is my memory failing?
