175. For turtles...we had a big one in the yard today trying to head to the pond, and it was hilarious watching her sliding down the hill with her hind legs flapping in the back.

Funny story, and true.

There are caves in TEXAS.
A bunch of them down in the hill country area.

One rancher owned land where a cave was underneath, but the opening to the cave was not on his land.
Caves maintain a 63 degree climate year round.
Don't need heat or air to stay comfy.

So, the rancher has the bright idea of boring a hole on his property into the cave.
The plan was to build a duct from the hole into his home with a fan installed to draw the cool air out of the cave into his home.
Might sound logical, but wait ......

Once he bore the hole (about 3 to 4 foot wide) that opened into the cave, the stink was unbearable!!!!
He didn't think about all the damp bat poop and pee that was about 4 feet deep on the cave floor!!!!

He couldn't fill the hole back in, and even boarding up the hole didn't stop the stink from escaping.
They had to move!

But not all was lost.
Another guy bought the place and installed a pulley system that scooped up the bat poop through the hole.
Sold it for fertilizer.

Live and lean.

More cave info.

Longhorn Cavern in TEXAS is one of the caves that gives tours.
You get to walk about a mile and a half into the cave.

There is a large pool of water in the cave that has catfish that have been living in the dark for so long that they no longer have eyes (not even eye sockets anymore).
