    Guns!

If we're not going to incarcerate young Black men for carrying guns all the time (and we don't), then we shouldn't all the time incarcerate young white men for carrying them either.

That ... does not sound right. Did his defense attorney have a fool for a client or something?

    Is death just another life?

What was a rock designed to do? To not change. That's why even today modern builders of skyscrapers want to build their buildings on (bed)rock. I mean your phone with a dead battery sits incorruptible, not like a cadaver which rots and putrefies. So do you think there's a parallel to this in...

    Tranny's/Homos in the News

Yes. Mine is more of a policy position, and yours is personal advice to individuals. Both are needed I think. So long as we have government schools, we have democratic (small D) control over them and should exercise it, and that means policy positions, political plans (aka ideology).

    Tranny's/Homos in the News

The strategy's never going to work, it's frankly stupid to try. It's only sharpening our division. Keep party politics out of schools. Teach American politics----not Democratic or Republican or Green or Libertarian political ideology----like we used to do. We'll sort out the party stuff...

    Fasting thread

And for old people, if you can't lift your body weight ten times in a row off the floor (just for one example), then that lack of strength should concern you FAR more than your body fat percentage. Being strong is a way larger lever in your life expectancy than not being too fat is.

    c. 9.3% of my starting body weight. But bear in mind, that some big piece of that is water weight, which occurs because when you fast, your insulin drops to basically zero, and insulin retains water. So you lose a lot of water weight. (Full disclosure I do eat c. five grams of creatine a day...

At some point you do have to watch your electrolytes, basically iow salt. I eat savory pickles occasionally, which are basically zero calories, but they do give you something to munch on, plus salt. (Other people who are way more into fasting than me mix up drinks with salt and minerals to...

    Guns!

Depends entirely on how quick he is on the draw. He needs to show that jury just how quickly he needed to make a decision. He can't fumble and bumble his way around trying to pull his pistol out from where he keeps /wears it. Needs to be like instant, then he can win acquittal.

An old thread which prompts a slightly different but related question: https://theologyonline.com/threads/is-believing-faith-a-work.43909/ Is reading the Bible a work?

It is what it is. I'm an unapologetic Catholic apologist whose Catholic apologetics is unapologetically Catholic. And TOL is Dispensationalist. President Trump did, what you and Chrysostom were talking about, with the link with judges and abortion. For whatever he is, he did more to defend...

    Fasting thread

My longest fast is six days, which I've done twice, in a row. Meaning I went 13 days only eating one of those days. Six days fast, eat, and then another six day fast before eating again. 12 days of fasting and one day of eating. But I have plenty of fat to burn. You're not going to be able...

    Is death just another life?

It's also not really dead though. It's technically non-living, and it doesn't have the voltage needed to run its circuit board. Once it regains the voltage through charging from a power source, now it has the voltage. In the meantime the device hardly changes at all, certainly no more than...

NPR's like the mirror image of Fox. There are NO Republican ideological values permitted on NPR----none. They are a straight Democratic ticket ... which is ironic.

Can someone believe in God but not attend church?

Catholicism believes it's entirely applicable, where "assembling of ourselves together" is equivalent to Matthew 18:20 "where two or three are gathered together in my name" and to Mass.

Can someone believe in God but not attend church?

The Catholic answer is briefly, yes. The longer answer ... is long.

    Is death just another life?

Another meaning, which makes it a different word from what you're talking about, is "popular piety." I'm using the Catholic word penance (one of them, since Penance is one of the names of the sacrament aka Confession and Reconciliation) because I dislike the other word which commonly means the...

    Is death just another life?

Huh. Yeah. Because it wasn't even like Adam's body was composed of living cells, just waiting for a human soul host or mind, there was no life in it yet at that moment. It was probably fully hydrated, ready to go, but there wasn't yet an energy gradient between the inside and outside of all...
