Abraham demonstrated what it means for one to be completely abandoned to God for whatever God might require of him. What must be observed is that Abraham was NOT born again; had no divine DNA circulating in his veins.
What this says to me is being born aagain is for a far greater capability for intimacy with God. Jesus made that happen:
". . . if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you" Romans 8:11 (KJV)
. . . . . And before physical death it is the soul of the that one born Again.
