In the past few days I was told "today" does NOT mean "today", which of course is WRONG.
Ref. Today you will be with me in paradise as Jesus told the crucified thief next to Him.
Tonight I was told "world" does not mean "world" but it means the lost sheep of Israel.
Ref. Jn.:3:16
If I was in a group ANY group that started changing the meaning of words in scripture I would find a church that preached the scripture without changing scripture to fit a particular doctrine.
There are more words changed by MAD to make their beliefs work, but you get the general idea.
John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
What "world" John?
Do you mean ancient North America, like the Mormons say?
Do you mean ancient China - what world are you talking about, John?
1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
So, He came into the world...of His own, many of...His own....received Him not, but as many of the ancient North Americans, and ancient Chinese as received Him gave He power to become the sons of God.
Got it; John.
No. Dodge.
You don't.
John is talking about the world of Israel - the world of...His own brethren: Israel.
Hebrews 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
What "the people"?
Guess who that phrase often refers to when Israelites speak of their world...of their...people.
The thing is to explore these kinds of things as to their various shades and hues.
Does this or that word always mean the same thing? What determines that?
And so on...
Only ignorance - right off dismisses a thing that does not fit within its' narrow approach.
Ignorance being the unawareness of a thing and or of how it works.
Willfull, or otherwise.
