Winter food

Since tonight's overnight low is zero, I whipped up a big batch of chili. Not all is wrong with winter, just most of it.

Of course, shredded onions on the side, as well as shredded cheese on the side for some. I also like cooking chicken in the oven this time of the year.

It's cold in Indy, I did have a burger for dinner, and I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn (although my home is getting colder by the moment). I would like a good meat heavy chilli recipe, if anyones talky.

It is nice and warm here. My tangerine tree is full of ripe juicy tangerines. :)

It was in the 20's in Northern Colorado today. Better than the -20's of last week. But I am a cold weather fan. I'm going to the Broncos game on Sunday and hope it doesn't reach to projected high in the 40's. That's too warm for football.

But on the topic of food. . . Tacos for the family and I tonight. Quesadillas last night. Chili the night before that.

I had a nice Backcountry Amber Ale with dinner tonight too.

A big pot of spaghetti also works well about now. Letting it simmer on the stove for a while really brings out the flavor.

I love roast beef dinner and also chicken with dumplings in the winter. Both fill the air with such good aromas!

We enjoyed Pork Chile Verde served on tortillas with lots of cheese & sour cream tonight, while enjoying 70 degree weather.

Sorry folks for the horrid contrast to your cold . . . but this kind of temp is why we continue in a serious drought crisis here in California. God has decided to return us to desert conditions.

But we bless His name for the pork and tortillas!

A big pot of chili is a fave around here this time of year, but don't forget the cornbread.

I'm throwing a stuffed turkey in the oven tomorrow and with all of the left overs we'll be sitting pretty for a homemade turkey pot pie and turkey soup for the next couple of days.

A pot of slow cooked navy or pinto beans with chunks of ham, and a side of corn bread muffins.

Any type of soup (or stoup), depending on what was left over from the the previous meals.

Breakfast pizza.
