God's Spirit is in the world calling all to come to Christ and be saved. Some hear the call and become Christians. Others hear the call, but instead of coming to Christ they become religious or join a cult. Calvinism is attractive because it is about you being chosen by God. The first words out of a Calvinist mouth is..."I have been predestinated" like that is the Gospel. That is not the Gospel.
B57 is under conviction. For years he has been haunting my threads making one line statements that he believes refutes what I am saying. I teach the "Historical Gospel" of Jesus Christ as the only means of ones salvation. Of course this refutes Calvinism, because they believe that they were predestinated to salvation before the foundation of the world. Some believe that God makes them believe the Gospel, which makes man nothing more than a robot. Paul wrote that, "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God" which is the Gospel, Romans 10:17.
Just because some one is under conviction does not mean that they are going to become a Christian. What it means is that the Spirit of God is convicting them that they are wrong, but they are not willing to come to the truth. The Pharisees were under conviction, but they could not come to the truth and be saved. Instead they wanted to murder Jesus so as to shut him up, especially after what he said to them in the 23rd chapter of Matthew.
Some hear and believe, others hear and become angry. The Jews followed Paul everywhere that he went. Paul was beaten by them many times and at one time they left him for dead. If you are preaching the Gospel that justifies the ungodly, Romans 4:5 and reconciles us and the world unto God, 2 Corinthians 5:18, 19. Then you should expect some resistance. If there is no resistance then maybe you don't have or know what the Gospel is.
