Family swears shooter was white.

Gonzalez said Wednesday the attack “could potentially be race related.” Jazmine was black, and the suspect was initially reported to be a white man in his 40s.

Activists, celebrities and local community leaders called for justice in the killing, and a $100,000 reward was put on offer for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.

What is interesting is the description of the white suspect came from multiple independent witnesses. The police are suspecting now that they were keying off another person who was just in the area. It does go to show why eyewitness testimony is no longer considered very reliable.

It also illustrates as the OP is pointing out the readiness of our political 'tribes' to jump on stories that feed their narratives: the white racist attacking a person of color, violence by an illegal alien or Muslim, etc.

And we have a winner. :first: Just as a lot of Trump's people are motivated by racial stereotypes to fear Hispanic immigrants Asians, blacks, etc., so some black people have by similar stereotypes, come to expect white people to be hostile or dangerous to them.

The large number of You Tube videos of people threatening people of other races, shows that this isn't an isolated problem.

And yes, they aren't all white people. I don't see one up right now, but they do exist.
