I don't have a dog anymore, but when I did, it would depend... If I wanted to torture the person I was visiting, I would obviously bring the dog. Otherwise, I might just leave the dog at home so he'd howl and bother the neighbors.
Basically, it was just a matter of who I wanted to bother the most.
