Not necessarily "better" as in "gooder", but could simply be elected and beloved of GOD. (Rom 11:28)


GOD chose Israel over other nations, and yet He says He didn't choose them because they were better than other nations.
Even makes the point clear in saying that He chose Israel in the womb before they had done anything at all (good or bad). (Rom 9:11)

The Father chose the people of Jacob as his firstborn, sent a Son to redeem them from sin, offered them his kingdom and their response ... they killed the Messenger.

In spite of all that he will yet offer them a new covenant and give them his Spirit.
