Have you seen this?

There are tons of references to the church Fathers.

Doesn't address sola scriptura per se.

It does:

Clement of Alexandria, referring
to a quotation of the gospel according to the Egyp-
tians, says, "But they follow anything, rather than
the true canonical gospels, "

Chrysostom says, "They fall into great absurdi-
ties, who will not follow the Canon of the divine Scrip-
ture, but trust to their own reasoning."

Isidore of Pelusium observes, " That these things
are so, we shall perceive, if we attend to the Canon of
truth — the divine Scriptures."

And these from the first chapter! :)

Has she? Vatican I or II? Is 'keeping it together' always the good thing?
It is when one considers that both Jesus Christ and the apostle Paul emphasized doctrinal unity as a defining feature of Christ's one historic Church.

1 Corinthians 1

2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

Paul here speaks of the Lordship of Jesus Christ over all believers. He is not discussing doctrinal unity at this point, though he does elsewhere.

And again, which? Vatican 1? 2? Eastern Orthodox? Ethiopian? Coptic? Ephesus, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicea, Smyrna, Pergamon?

somebody got the keys
the power to bind and loose
so
who has the authority?

do you need scripture for that?

This is just not a good way to state your position, Cruciform.
Folks on this forum generally want to see biblical content for one's position, which is precisely what the source I cited provides. It's basically just a list of biblical verses on the topic under discussion.

This is huge document and that few will read.
Those who have a genuine and honest interest in the topic will be eager to consider the information provided; those who aren't genuinely and honestly interested won't bother. As they like.

Okay.

So, here's Lon's question, which I wonder about, too.

"And again, which? Vatican 1? 2? Eastern Orthodox? Ethiopian? Coptic? Ephesus, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicea, Smyrna, Pergamon?"

If there is one standard doctrine, which council or document is to be found in?

Paul here speaks of the Lordship of Jesus Christ over all believers.

Of course. One Lord, two faiths both theirs and ours. One foundation, the Lord Jesus Christ.

He is not discussing doctrinal unity at this point, though he does elsewhere.

Galatians 2

7 But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel for the uncircumcised had been committed to me, as the gospel for the circumcised was to Peter

If there was one piece of good news, you would not skip Romans 5 and 6, Ephesians 1 and 2....

Notice how he doesn't dare try to explain "theirs". Why even bring it up if there is only "ours". Because the good news of circumcision is committed to Peter.
